Job Description

Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. We take on the biggest, most precedent-setting cases across the country. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health; to preserve magnificent places and wildlife; to advance clean energy; and to combat climate change. We partner with thousands of groups, supporters, individuals, and communities to engage the critical environmental issues of our time and bring about positive change. We are here because the earth needs a good lawyer.

Founded in 1971, Earthjustice has a distinguished track record of achieving significant, lasting environmental protections. We achieve this by hiring people who share a passion for justice and a healthy environment. Our headquarters are in San Francisco with offices in Anchorage, Juneau, Los Angeles, Tallahassee, Honolulu, New York, Philadelphia, Denver, Seattle, Bozeman, and Washington, DC.

Earthjustice is looking for an organized, analytical, data-driven, and environmentally-oriented Data Coordinator to add to its Digital Fundraising and Engagement (DFE) team. The role serves as a key member of the Development Department by helping us build better data structures and reporting systems to understand our list of nearly 2 million contacts and over 100,000 donors, and to support a collaborative, holistic, and cohesive fundraising environment.

Digital Fundraising currently provides nearly 7% of the organization’s annual $130M+ revenue. To help achieve this goal, the position will produce reports to reflect the DFE team’s performance toward our goals, perform crucial data hygiene processes, and maintain good data flows in coordination with external vendors and our Development Operations team. They will also execute special data enrichment projects and ad hoc queries that will inform our donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

Candidates should be proficient in spreadsheet manipulation and CRM management with a meticulous eye for data entry and hygiene. A non-profit or digital marketing background is a plus but not required. The role reports to the Associate Director of Digital Fundraising & Engagement and will work in close coordination with the DFE team, the Digital Engagement Communications team (DE), and all Development sub-teams.

This role can be based remotely from the US.

Responsibilities:

Database Administration (60%)

  • Execute regular data imports & exports, adhering to all deadlines and in coordination with outside vendor support.

  • Serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team tasked with synchronizing data across CRMs using Civis Platform, an external vendor.
  • Perform data quality checks on incoming data from surveys and external sources such as Google Analytics, advertising pixels, and Civis Platform.
  • Assess current hygiene and tracking processes and propose improvements to increase efficiency, automation, and ease of reporting.
  • Support Development sub-teams in answering data questions as they relate to specific constituent records.
  • Update and document Digital Fundraising data procedures as related to the role.

Reporting and Analysis (40%)

  • Execute weekly and monthly reporting dashboards for digital fundraising using Google Data Studio and Tableau.
  • Work with vendors to set up data pathways to reporting tools.
  • Prepare and clean raw data for analysis.

  • Ensure the incorporation of inclusive practices in all duties and responsibilities, on a consistent and ongoing basis, including but not limited to verbal and written interactions with constituents and Earthjustice staff.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years relevant experience or College degree in Statistics (or similar field) preferred
