We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer/Content Designer who will be responsible for planning, designing, and delivering a full suite of up-to-date product content.  Working collaboratively with our R&D, Marketing, and Customer Support teams, this role ensures we’re creating materials that our diverse audience can easily understand and utilize to be successful and delighted with our products.
Ideally this role is located in the Seattle, WA area but does offer a hybrid model. 

Why You’re Rad (about you):

  • A creator of amazing product information, with a mastery of written and visual communication that simplifies unfamiliar and multistep procedures, engages consumers in the experience they sought when they bought their Rad bike, and answers questions before they’re asked
  • Highly competent and organized with demonstrated record of strong written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • 7+ years of experience in end-user writing for diverse consumer audiences
  • 7+ years producing user instructions across a variety of hardcopy and digital formats, preferably for powered consumer products or electronics.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a rapidly changing team environment
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand, draft, and review customer-facing content
  • Experienced and passionate about mentoring junior content creators and writers
  • Demonstrated ability to research, learn, and explain mechanical procedures in approachable consumer language and with engaging simplicity
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with concurrent timelines and easily adapt to changing priorities and timelines
  • Able to lead and manage small to midsize project teams
  • Proven ability to work with geographically dispersed teams

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, communications, technical writing, etc. or equivalent experience within a technical writing or writing focused field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiar with the principles of UX writing and have collaborated with experience designers to blend product content into the natural flow of product learning and use
  • Coachability and willingness to adhere to brand identity, voice and tone standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • An understanding of the localization process and how to write and craft content well suited for effective translation and globalization of visual and textual information
  •  A portfolio of work and/or pointers to consumer products for which you authored/created the end user instructions is an essential part of our candidate screening process

You get bonus points for:

  • Experience riding or working with bikes or ebikes, outdoor gear, or strong interest & ability to quickly learn
  • Experience designing and implementing a content management and/or asset management systems
  •  Experience with HTML and CSS and/or XML-based authoring and publishing tools (e.g., MadCap Flare) or others  Component Content Management System (CCMS) knowledge and experience
  •  Experience working with animation, video, or multimedia content authoring and/or writing scripts for instructional videos or animations 
  • Database design and implementation experience
  • Experience with content localization and/or CAT (computer-aided translation) systems

Had you been with us last month, you would have:

  • Investigated the ebike industry to fully understand the products we offer
  • Absorbed information about our customers to understand how best to craft product content for your audience
  • Invented creative and simple ways to convey important concepts and procedures for our customers
  • Co-created world class product content for an exciting next wave of Rad bikes and accessories, enabling customers to learning about and begin enjoying their new products
  •  Influenced future product experiences that continue to set Rad apart from the competition
  • Coordinated with product management, engineering, and management teams to identify needs for creation, editing, reviewing, promulgating, organizing, and archiving both formal and informal product documents
  • Collaborated with colleagues to design and implement workflow, asset management, and other information systems
  • Helped develop, edit, proof, publish, update, organize, and archive printed and electronic user guides, SOPs, Quick Start Guides, product support videos, product release documentation, informational materials, and presentations for diverse audiences
  • Exercised quality control over documents and other informational resources intended for external distribution
  • Other duties as assigned & required
