Job Description

Boston Government Services has a need for a Building Technologies Engineer/Energy Manager.

Provides technical and project management support to the Building Technologies Office. Support includes, but is not limited to, analysis and review of existing stakeholder networks; analysis of program portfolios to identify gaps and coordinate and improve the scope, project teams, and/or budget planning; market, policy, and economic assessments of energy efficiency technologies; assisting in strategic planning and building broad deployment initiatives; and assisting with specific BTO projects, initiatives, and tools (e.g., Technology-to-Market, Field Validation, and Verification, High Impact Technologies (HIT), Better Buildings Alliance, Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings, Integrated Lighting Challenge, Heat Pump Campaigns), DC distribution, storage, utility partnerships, sensors and controls, ventilation.

Many aspects of this position sit at the intersection of technical research and public policy; this position will have day-to-day interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, NEPA, and communications. The role will also include external communication with academia, private industry, and National Laboratories stakeholders. Candidates should have excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills. Experience with public policy and conducting impact assessments is beneficial in this role.

An ideal candidate will have experience with energy efficiency technologies and energy-saving solutions, including lighting, HVAC, and mechanical systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Science
  • 5 plus years of experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong quantitative and analytic capabilities, including report writing and spreadsheet analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills and data analysis
  • Self-starter, an ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on residential or commercial building energy efficiency programs
  • Ability to balance multiple long and short-term projects and competing priorities
  • Experience with UX and data analysis tools.
  • Experience and interest in public policy
  • LEED certification
  • PMP

Salary Range: $75,000-$110,000.
