Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. You’ll be working in our Technical Compliance, Safety and Governance team within Field Services and alongside our core retail business.

What will I be doing?

As we grow our Field Services teams it’s a great time and a fantastic opportunity to join and help craft the way we install electric vehicle charge points for our customers and
beyond. This role will be a pivotal piece in assisting the development of our internal capabilities as we increase scale of installations alongside maintaining our current accreditations and certifications in technical, health, Safety and Environment including ISO. You’ll do this by delivering internal governance and assurance programs to ensure compliance against our obligations under our licences to trade and supporting the technical services and field operations teams through maintenance of our document directory alongside preparation and leading on our external audit requirements and acting as a pivotal governance gateway to keep all on track. The role is critical in ensuring the assurance framework is effective and maintains a robust quality management system around our technical accreditations and future diversification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on and construct a framework around our current and future technical, health and safety and ISO accreditations to define the requirements, quality check and retain our submissible evidence in advance of external auditing
  • Conduct a program of periodic gap analysis, audits and reviews to retain compliance against changing industry legislation
  • Work closely with the Technical Compliance & Conduct and Compliance teams within Field Operations to conduct a program of periodic audits and reviews against the wider business in areas of technical control (including within the STAC team) to ensure processes are in place to retain compliance in areas such as: training records and renewals, asset management & calibration, PAT testing, warning notices, delivery of our coaches QA program, document management & review, incident management and corrective actions / CPDs within the field.
  • Compiles and reviews Assurance reports in relation to our accreditation framework and manages information to provide insightful data from which business improvements can be made.
  • Provides assurance of health and safety activity such as site safety visits
  • Lead on Quality improvement review sessions with the wider field operations business to identify inefficiencies and drive improvements to bridge any gaps
  • Provide assurance over our document directory and documents within
  • Lead in the assurance of the delivery of “need to know” information and briefs to identify any non conformance, liaise with the team responsible for management of the delivery to ensure compliance
  • Support in the framework and achievement of any future accreditations required to deliver our decarbonisation products under plan zero

Is this the job for me?

  • Have an excellent technical understanding within the gas, electricity and renewables sector
  • Have previous audit & assurance experience within a regulated environment and ideally be familiar with the energy industry and applicable regulatory and obligatory requirements.
  • Familiar with ISO quality frameworks and leading on ISO structured audits
  • The individual should be confident, flexible in approach and prepared to challenge conventional ways of working and thinking
  • Be confident to implement and perform technical assurance activities across the field operations team, within their own team and alongside other areas of OVO energy as
    required

Do I have what it takes?

Crucial skills and experience:

  • Well developed influencing skills with the ability to empower and involve individuals and teams as well as facilitating meetings. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to draw conclusions from large data sets.
  • Ability to lead projects and process change to plan/budget.
  • Excellent planning and time management are essential, and you can execute multiple demands against tight timelines
  • Strong stakeholder leadership skills are needed to enable the building of effective relationships across the organisation.
  • Flexible and positive approach to delivering work.
  • Understanding of applicable legal and regulatory obligations within the technical arena
  • Organisational skills and excellent record keeping
  • Expert auditor, ideally qualified (IRCA or IIA) capable of acting as lead auditor as required to complete the following tasks to a high professional standard;
  • Audit programme creation, ideally risk based
  • Planning audit work
  • Creating ToR’s
  • Conducting opening meetings
  • Desktop reviews and/or site audits, as applicable
  • Report writing, clear, objective
  • ISO audit Management desirable
  • Understanding of Business Governance and risk management.
  • Risk Management experience, particularly how audit and risk interrelate
  • Excellent technical understanding within the gas and electricity sector
