Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.

We are seeking a Laboratory Operation Engineer to assist operation of a dynamic R&D team by providing general laboratory support with the day-to-day lab operations including lab organization, lab space access, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
Assist lab manager in maintaining multiple laboratories in support of material development and physical characterization team in R&D operation.Initiate, plan and assist hardware projects to promote lean and efficient process management.Collect equipment information and maintain equipment specification database to aid in the acquisition, installation and qualification process.Survey and maintain equipment information and specification database to provide support during equipment acquisition, installation, and qualification processes.Communicate to lab users and internal collaborators regarding new or updated procedures, requirements, and potential non-compliance.Conduct compliance and safety assurance activities and communicate updated SOPs and laboratory related requirements to affiliates.Implement 5S to maintain an organize and clutter free work space and improve efficiency. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and usability of laboratories and storage spaces.Record, coordinate, and supervise sample transfer logistics and maintain chain-of-custody audit trails.Monitor laboratories status such as dew point, temperature, and particle counter.Document, analyze, and communicate lab related issues, tasks performed, lab maintenance and equipment calibration records.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations engineering, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field.3-5 years direct experience working in a R&D laboratory, and/or basic knowledge of R&D or process equipment.Capable of working independently and in a cross-functional team to drive projects to completion and maintain good working relationship.
Preferred:
Experience with Confluence, JMPAbility to generate analytical reports using Microsoft Office Suit.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for some periods of time.Be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of >3 feetAbility to lift 30-50lbs, occasionally.
