Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You'll be joining the Kaluza Technology community. We’re a large team of both data-led and product focused Software and Production Engineers, pushing the boundaries of technology and working at an extraordinary scale. As a collective we strive for engineering greatness and by ensuring best practices across the board of the community.

You’ll be working on the Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform. This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally. This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza’s customers. 

We are in the process of transforming the platform's architecture to create global “spinnable” environments, this is to support rapid onboarding of multiple clients and allow Kaluza to adapt to an ever changing energy landscape.

 

What will I be doing?

You'd be joining as a tech leader contributing to the long term technical strategy, taking on responsibility for the team's domain and codebase and ensuring that the team achieves its product and technical goals. On a day to day basis, you would be fully embedded in the team and take a leading role in ensuring the team is operating effectively; you will also be working within a team of other senior leaders responsible for designing and evolving the architecture for this platform over the long term. This work will include building proof of concepts, delivering code into production, whiteboarding or collaborating with other teams and engineers to achieve needed steps.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading strategic and complex initiatives that allow Kaluza to achieve its goals 
• Partnering with Product, Design and Engineering teams
• Maintenance and improvements of existing systems
• Promoting engineering and delivery best practices within the team
• Ensuring SLOs for the services we provide are met
• Championing progressive architecture and reviewing design solutions with other engineering leaders
• Ensuring alignment on design and seeking opportunities to leverage software in other parts of the company
• Being a champion for tackling technical debt, and being able to communicate its impact to relevant stakeholders
• Collaborating and working with stakeholders within and external to Kaluza to understand how our data can be used
• Contributing to platform-wide choices in terms of our platform boundaries, partnership options and architecture
• Being a part of the Kaluza-wide technology leadership team

• Experience solving important technical and architectural challenges
• A keen desire to partner with senior leaders as well as individuals within teams
• Be equally passionate about hands-on engineering as well as technical strategy
• Experience in delivering solutions in a pragmatic, efficient and iterative way
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Experience in building good working relationships with individuals across the entire business
• Enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging, highly innovative, collaborative environment
