Nexamp is a leading renewable energy company with a rapidly-expanding national footprint, focused on solar and battery storage projects as developer, EPC provider and asset manager.  The position will provide legal support for Nexamp’s (i) engineering, procurement and construction function and (ii) asset management and operations & management functions.  The position offers the opportunity to be part of a growing legal department. Additional responsibilities will also include managing outside counsel and improving internal processes, with the potential to expand the role to support additional business units, as well.  This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and energetic self-starting team member with a strong legal background in commercial contracting, preferably in construction and/or procurement.

This position will report to the Assistant General Counsel. The Counsel role can be based in either Chicago, IL or Washington D.C. 


  • Negotiate major procurement and subcontractor agreements
  • Manage disputes with procurement counterparties and subcontractors, including resolution of liens and providing legal support for warranty claims
  • Work with outside counsel and business teams to manage trade and tariff risk
  • Manage legal matters (including revenue contracts) arising in connection with operational projects
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of contract templates and internal deal processes
  • Role can be expanded to include management of additional legal areas
  • Occasional travel may be required


  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • 2-5 years legal experience required, preferably in a law firm setting
  • Advanced experience negotiating commercial contracts is required
  • Specific experience in construction and/or procurement contracting, and/or with renewable energy projects, is preferred, but candidates with strong backgrounds in finance, construction, energy, or commercial contracts are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to work in a highly team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision to support various business units within the organization 
  • Excellent commercial judgement with strong oral and written communication
