Bio-Analytical Lab Technician

We’re using fermentation (not animals) to make dairy proteins that are the foundation for foods like ice cream, cheese and yogurt – all with the distinctive taste and textures that consumers demand, but without lactose or environmental downsides. Through partnerships with respected brands, we’re working to launch a whole range of dairy products that will help shape a humane, sustainable food system for future generations. 
We are searching for a highly motivated lab technician to join our newly formed Lab management team under the Bio-Analytical department. As the newest member of the team, you will run and maintain analytical and biochemical assays on a regular basis to support R&D and manufacturing efforts. The lab management group is a cross-functional team that will be working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. A successful candidate will be familiar with analytical assays, lab procedures, and the importance of adhering to all lab regulations.

Essential functions

• Prepare samples for analysis including but not limited to colorimetry, UHPLC, SDS-PAGE, GC-MS.
• Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analysis, and accurate data entry to support R&D and manufacturing efforts
• Preparation of reagents and buffer solutions for the various analytical procedures following approved SOPs 
• Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Follow written procedures (SOP's) with attention to detail and a focus on quality

Other functions

• Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) under guided direction of lab manager
• Perform necessary housekeeping duties in a timely manner, keeping the work areas and equipment clean and sanitized
• Maintain timely and thorough documentation of work
• Work in a team, being proactive in your work, seeking opportunities to build your understanding, and contributing to a collegial environment
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail

• Candidate must possess a high level of technical aptitude, excellent communication, organization, and collaborative skills, and demonstrated ability to innovate, troubleshoot, and thrive in a dynamic cross-functional team environment.
• Candidate must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
• Candidate must be ready to work on a scheduled weekend rotation based on the needs of the lab
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

Required education and experience

• Associate degree in biology, chemistry or relevant field. Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills
• No prior experience is required but knowledge of routine and non-routine laboratory analysis is required 
•  Disciplined approach to understand scope of experiments with guidance from senior team members

Preferred education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or Life Science, is a plus.
• 1-2 year of prior work experience in a laboratory environment is plus
• Experience with statistical analysis, LIMS and automation is a plus
