At Kaluza, we’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to join our Platform Design team.

Kaluza wants to power a world where net-zero is within everyone’s reach, by building the platform that will accelerate a sustainable, affordable and resilient energy transition. It’s a huge challenge, but often the toughest problems are the most rewarding to solve.

Since launching in 2019, Kaluza’s technology has been empowering some of the biggest energy suppliers to better serve millions of customers.

From revolutionising billing to smart electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms transform supplier operations, reducing cost to serve and boosting engagement. And most importantly, they enable suppliers' customers to drive decarbonisation with smart, low carbon technologies.

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working?

You’ll be part of the Kaluza Platform Design community, which includes specialists in Product Design, Service Design, User Research, Content Design and Technical Writing. Customer Products supports key energy customer journeys, such as submitting meter reads, renewing contracts or moving home. The squad champions the consistency, efficiency and accessibility of components and patterns across the platform. They also manage and improve our developer documentation site, enabling external software engineers to easily extend Kaluza’s technical services. Working in partnership with the Head of Product and Software Engineering Manager, you will develop and implement clear strategies for the squad and its teams.

What will I be doing?

  • Mentoring and managing designers in your squad. Helping them achieve their best work using techniques such as running design critiques and retros. Adapting your process and methodologies to the context to get the best results.
  • Developing a deep understanding of our design system and supporting others in how to use and apply it effectively. .
  • Defining what research and data is essential in solving complex design problems. You’ll ensure that the team’s insights are usable by product teams and available more widely at Kaluza.
  • Aligning with Design, Product, Engineering and Data to guide teams in answering the right questions, and promoting a collaborative, measurable approach. Actively building relationships with other disciplines.
  • Being responsible for delivery in the team by reducing risk, improving quality and getting insights to validate learning and deliver faster.
  • Championing learning and development across your area.
  • Leading the resolution of ambiguous tasks, and able to pivot quickly when required.
  • Sourcing information and requirements from broad business areas and providing clarity to others, translating incredibly complex and strategic project requirements across multiple levels.
  • Bringing together the right people at the right times to overcome any issues and create a shared understanding. Facilitating and designing sessions for stakeholders. Consistently distilling the ‘need to know’ information for the right audience.
  • Being a visible and vocal presence in the Platform Design community.

Is this the job for me?

This is an exciting time to join Kaluza, as we focus on getting our products into the hands of global clients.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience across User Experience, Interaction Design, User Research, Data, Technology and managing other designers.
