Impossible R&D is a fast paced, collaborative team, and we are excited to invite you to join our diverse team as Associate Scientist - Analytics! The Associate Scientist will be responsible for developing and validating analytical methods (mostly with LC and GC platforms). This position will have the opportunity to collaborate with different research groups and support their analytical needs.

You Will:

  • Develop, optimize and validate analytical methods (LCMS, GCMS) to identify and quantify key flavor compounds in food matrices.
  • Design, implement bench-scale experiments with multiple variables for small molecule/volatile; quantification/characterization and yield optimization.
  • Serve as a champion of data quality making judgment calls on qualitative and quantitative validity of analytical data and drive the directions of research projects towards definite conclusions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other R&D teams and successfully communicate with people who have little or no knowledge of mass spectrometry and metabolomics.
  • Maintain, and upkeep an excellent laboratory notebook.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Voice ideas, concerns, and solutions to teammates..

You Have:

  • Bachelor/Master/Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of laboratory (academic and/or industrial) experience developing analytical methods for proteins and small molecules (LC, MS, GC, SEC, HTP assays, etc.).
  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this role.
  • Ability to be a fully independent user of LC-MS and GC-MS , and knowledge of instrumentation hardware and software, Thermo platform is preferred (Orbitrap, Xcalibur, Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch, Chromeleon).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven creativity.
  • Must demonstrate excellent accountability.
  • Hard-working, self-motivated fast learner.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse, dynamic team effectively.
  • Knowledge in DOE and statistical analysis is a plus..
