The Supervisor of Facilities & Maintenance performs, coordinates and controls facility maintenance at two or more facilities to ensure proper safety, sanitation, and mechanical functions for the facility including grounds and equipment. The person reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all maintenance work to properly maintain facilities and grounds
  • Evaluate maintenance requests, set priorities and process work assignments
  • Establish and maintain a reliable network of outside vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely support of the maintenance function
  • Interacts with contractors or subcontractors to perform maintenance work
  • Ensures all permits/licenses are maintained
  • Performs routine inspections of all systems and equipment. Perform routine repair work and other work of a general maintenance nature
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed related to the performance of the maintenance function
  • Establishes and communicates the level of quality and safety expected in the performance of maintenance tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Manage Facilities Technician(s)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associates degree in construction, electrical or mechanical engineering or business preferred. Journeyman Certification a plus
  • Working knowledge of basic construction concepts including building design, HVAC, plumbing, electricity, framing, drywall, etc.
  • 6 years of facilities maintenance experience
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills required
  • Superb verbal and written communication, grammar, and diction skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Able to write simple correspondence
  • Can effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percent and decimals
  • Skillful in solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform desk work
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  • Required to walk, stand, and stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
