We are seeking an expert and diligent senior technician to join our rapidly expanding team!
Responsibilities:
This role is to help QuantumScape achieve success by supporting production and characterization of materials used in batteries. The position involves collaborating with scientists and engineers to put the devices through a range of battery tests. This includes preparing test devices for successful test execution; scheduling, configuring and performing electrical tests, making sure that tests start in a timely manner; ensuring devices, tests, and results are handled with care and accurately recorded; ensuring the integrity of test data through the careful execution of procedures and communication of issues.The senior R&D technician will be responsible for coordinating on shift activities and for providing training and assistance to the other team members as well as reporting on progress and issues encountered.The senior technician will create new procedures for lab operations and document them.The senior technician will also be responsible for the resolution of issues of significant scope that may involve working with other departments.The senior technician is expected to be hands on with the lab operations.The position requires coordinating the organization and function of the laboratory space and equipment including preventive maintenance and equipment calibration.Continuous improvement activities in safety, delivery and quality are required.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A technical diploma is likely but a minimum requirement is a high school diploma with demonstrated ability as a technician in an R&D or manufacturing environment, preferably with an emphasis on electrical test.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful candidate will have acquired the following knowledge, skills and abilities that will be used in this position:Excellent familiarity with computer operation with the ability to run automated testing, transfer and validate data files;5-8 years of related work experience;Strong collaboration and teamwork, including clear and open communication; ensure issues with samples and tests are quickly addressed;Good organizational skills and you have careful attention to the smallest of details;The ability to effectively coordinate the work of others;Ability to work independently and to communicate the status of your work to your peers across shifts to ensure effective collaboration across shifts;Good analytical skills for making independent decisions based on data;Motivation for success.
Any of the following are a plus.
In addition to the above, the following will help achieve success:a technical degree from a program of at least 2 years duration;experience with commercial battery test equipmentexperience in building basic electrical hardware with mechanical assembly, wire stripping and cable assembly, and soldering of components;knowledge of secondary (rechargeable) battery components and electrical characteristics;experience of testing in a volume manufacturing environment.The expected shift for this position 12 hour shifts alternating 3-4 periods per week.
