This position will help directly support the Department of Energy’s (DOE) office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) in commercialization activities, including, but not limited to, Funding Opportunity Announcements, project management, and technical support for competitively selected cooperative agreements. Support involves daily interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, NEPA, and communications, as well as external communication with project recipients in academia, private industry, and National Laboratories.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support initiatives to bolster the commercialization of marine energy and hydropower technologies from foundational research to market adoption.
  • Coordinate across the program, EERE, and with relevant DOE offices to execute commercialization programs.
  • Support administration of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding opportunities, including supporting the development of topics and review processes.
  • Serve as technical lead for R&D and commercialization projects.
  • Support development of commercialization strategies and tracking of commercialization metrics.
  • Support commercialization initiatives relevant to specific projects and awards.
  • Develop commercialization programming within existing and upcoming mechanisms.

Required Qualifications:

  • STEM doctoral degree and two years relevant work experience OR STEM master’s degree and seven years relevant experience.
  • Experience with SBIR/STTR programs is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working at or with small businesses or startups is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Successful drug screening.

Salary Range: $80-110,000
