Boston Government Services has an open Marine Energy Facilities Position.

This position will help directly support the Department of Energy’s (DOE) office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) in marine energy activities. Support involves daily interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, NEPA, and communications, as well as external communication with project recipients in academia, private industry, and National Laboratories.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and contributes to infrastructure investment strategy, as aligned with WPTO’s MYPP.
  • Provides oversight as technical lead for WPTO-funded projects focusing on reducing barriers to marine energy testing.
  • Coordinates infrastructure and testing needs and gaps across the WPTO marine energy portfolio.
  • Evaluate limitations of potential testing assets and instrumentation for marine energy, including scaling and size considerations.
  • Reviews test plans and SOPs for WPTO-funded marine energy projects to evaluate the likelihood of safely accomplishing test objectives.
  • Collaborate with other DOE project leads and partners to identify needs for accreditation and QA/QC processes.
  • Conduct site visits as needed for assessing space constraints, logistical support, and test asset network health.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Required/strongly encouraged experience with system design, naval architecture, marine engineering, or ocean engineering.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Successful drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data collection, instrumentation, and sensors applicable for marine energy, particularly for field testing applications.
  • Familiarity with federal permitting considerations, including NEPA.
  • Familiarity with interpretation and application of standards/codes, e.g. IEC TC-114.
  • Familiarity with the environment, health, safety guidelines/training, etc.

Salary Range: $80-110,000
