Boston Government Services has an open Marine Energy Power at Sea Project Manager Position.

This position will help directly support the Department of Energy’s (DOE) office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) on the marine energy team, which invests in cutting-edge research in marine energy (ocean waves, tides, currents, and salinity/temperature/ pressure gradients). This role will be focused on the Powering the Blue Economy initiative, a body of work focused on non-grid opportunities for marine energy, with an emphasis on the Power at Sea portfolio, which includes using marine energy to power ocean observing devices, aquaculture, and marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support WPTO ocean observing activities through lab project management, competitive public prize design and execution, and contribution to strategic planning for office research investments.
  • Assist in the management of a portfolio of R&D projects similar to the Ocean Observing Prize.
  • Provide technical support and documentation for R&D program management activities.
  • Work with a collaborative, diverse team; manage both the strategic elements and the day-to-day implementation of R&D funding opportunities and funded project(s).
  • Remain current with the state of the science to inform the program to ensure needs and gaps are being addressed.
  • Engage with stakeholders and facilitate collaboration with potential interagency, industrial, and/or academic partners.
  • Support involves daily interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, NEPA, and communications, as well as external communication with project recipients in academia, private industry, and National Laboratories.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree is desired (graduate research and teaching experience can count as experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant background.
  • Project management experience.
  • Technical background in ocean observation is desired.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to work effectively between a technical team and a management team.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Successful drug screening.

Salary Range: $80-110,000
