Do you want to make a major contribution to this part of the energy economy? Join us on our mission as we transform energy storage to enable a more sustainable future.  We are looking to add an Associate EHS Engineer - Associate Member Technical Staff (AMTS) to our Environment Health & Safety team. The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting the development and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in regular area inspections, document corrective actions, and track closure
  • Coordinate and/or deliver EHS training
  • Use and manage an online learning management system
  • Coordinate vendors to perform onsite tasks
  • Record environmental parameters. Monitor hazardous waste handling and storage. Take effective steps to ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained
  • Conduct and document regular inspections of safety equipment
  • May participate in regulatory inspections or assist in the investigation and preparation of reports on injuries
  • Participate in the safe installation of new process equipment
  • Support development and completion of environmental/sustainability metrics
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response Team and Safety Committee activities
  • In support of 5S initiatives, work with employees to ensure a clean, safe, and balanced workplace
  • Finish the assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. degree in chemistry, engineering, or related fields
  • Work in a constantly evolving environment with Facilities, Hardware, and R&D leaders, and staffing at all levels
  • Ability to approach sophisticated problems by actively seeking information and new insights from a variety of sources, consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems, and mastering unfamiliar information, tasks, and situations quickly and optimally

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • MS in chemistry or engineering fields
  • Two years of work experience in the EHS field
  • Experience working within a battery or automotive operations and/or manufacturing teams
  • Strong data management and analysis skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work with airtight isolation chambers and/or wear neoprene or vinyl gloves for 15-30% of the time
  • Frequently reach above shoulder heights and below the waist
  • May be required to use hand or power tools
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, lift up to 30 pounds, push and extend arms
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
