Job Description

The In-vehicle human-interaction and infotainment software team is looking for an Engineering Leader to help us build a world class, in industry ride-taxi experience. Our teams are building the interface between a fleet of autonomous vehicles and the individual riders.
In this role, you will have the opportunity for a tremendous impact on the future of our robo-taxi service by leading the software engineering team responsible for the main in-vehicle interaction points for our riders. You will work with engineers across the company and will collaborate closely with a team of product managers and designers to make these interfaces elegant, intuitive and relevant.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a hands-on frontline manager passionate about doing the right things, growing engineers and improving the product!
  • The 1st line of support for engineers, TPMs, PMs, Experience, QAs → “connect the dots”
  • Help the team align with cross-functional partners to always have a prioritized 6+ months roadmap
  • Be the primary advocate for the team, grow its engineers, help resolve conflicts, recognize people, give/seek timely feedback, proactively address performance issues, provide technical support on important architectural decisions
  • Work with engineers to achieve balanced resource allocation. Deliver the context from the company and organization to the team, and help deliver the team’s accomplishments to executives.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product and cross-functional partners to make sure we have a relentless focus on delivering the best ROI for the company and our end users.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2+ years of Engineering Management experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing embedded SW (Android) and/or C++ applications/components
  • Experience in roadmap development, system design
  • Experience in hiring and retaining top-performing engineers
  • Experience in driving alignment with Product, Design and other cross-functional partners

Bonus Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Robotics, automotive or embedded HW experience
  • Performance, experimentation, AOSP experience
  • Human interaction SW development experience
  • Experience leading teams involved in both HW and SW development
  • Experience with distributed systems, telemetry, or cloud platforms
  • Experience with embedded or IoT hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.

CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $203,000 to $293,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

Vaccine MandateEmployees working in this position will be required to have received a single dose of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine OR have completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series. In addition, employees will be required to receive a COVID-19 booster vaccine within two months of becoming eligible for the booster vaccine.
