Job Description

EnergyHub empowers utilities and their customers to create a clean, distributed energy future. Our customers are real utilities managing the real electrical grid supporting the normal lives of millions of real people. Our mission is to keep the grid running reliably while enabling more renewable energy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

As the Director, Partner Integrations, you will be responsible for owning all complexity in communicating with millions of devices managed by dozens of partners across multiple device types (think: electric vehicles, smart thermostats, water heaters, solar arrays, battery storage). You will play an integral part in building the partner integrations team, designing its systems and defining its success criteria.

What you will do:

  • Attract, mentor, lead & retain multiple engineering managers who are responsible for building and maintaining the integrations
  • Facilitate successful integrations by communicating clearly and effectively with our partners, monitoring key updates and performance, and figuring out ways to add and extend integrations commitments
  • Define and build the team responsible for partner integrations in line with our overall company objectives
  • Collaborate with the product team to communicate partner feedback and growth opportunities
  • Work with product and others in engineering to model the foundations for feature requests that open us up to new revenue or optimized fulfillment through partner integrations

Why you want to do it:

  • It’s big. Millions of devices with more power under management than the state of Hawaii – you’ll be fighting climate change at scale.
  • Keeping it simple is hard. We’re adding new partners and device types all the time, so you’ll have to think about how to structure your team and systems to keep it simple, and keep it fast.
  • Reliability matters. Partners are fallible, and sometimes send us bad data, or laggy data, or just aren’t fully available all the time, so you’ll have to think about how your system can succeed despite that uncertainty.
  • It’s 2022. Our teams are fully remote (though if you live near one of our offices you can use it when you want. The office is a perk!) so you’ll need to know how to build trust with colleagues through zoom, slack, email, etc, in addition to the occasional in-person meeting.
  • It’s important. Climate change sucks. Our work enables decarbonization of the power grid.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience working with API integrations, message queues, AWS (or other cloud platforms)
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple technical teams.
  • Enjoys building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You can read, write, and deploy code, even if you don’t do it as much lately.
  • Passionate about technology and innovation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the Java ecosystem

Bonus points

  • Passion for the climate space and our mission to decarbonize and stabilize the grid
  • Experience with Springboot, RabbitMQ, SQS, gRPC, NoSQL, Redis
  • SaaS experience, particularly supporting self-service, developer-facing APIs and their users
  • IoT experience
  • Experience working in a compliant environment
  • Energy industry experience

The salary range for this position is $190,000 - $230,000 + equity. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
