The Opportunity: The mission of the Senior Accountant, Operations role is to support the Finance Team in achieving company goals through reviewing the day to day transactions and assist in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package. 

This role requires an individual that thrives in an environment of continuous improvement, and problem solving. Teamwork and adaptability will be critical to success.  Meeting deadlines and understanding the details within the general ledger brings joy to your heart. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet and contribute to financial statement variance analysis
  • Review and maintain accounting schedules including fixed assets, continuity and depreciation, amortizations, prepayments, intercompany, etc.  
  • Identify and problem solve anomalies within financial statements and reporting
  • Reviewing monthly sales commission agreements for accuracy and payment
  • B2B, Enterprise and Employee Purchase program contract review and accounts receivable management
  • Prepare and submit GST/HST/PST tax returns and supporting documentation
  • Work with Avalara to prepare domestic and international tax returns and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with necessary governing bodies relating to sales tax
  • Work collaboratively with finance and operations team to ensure proper inventory reporting and cost allocation
  • Assist with year-end preparations. Will work directly with the audit team to ensure accuracy of balance sheet reporting, supporting documents and answer questions as required 
  • Ad-hoc accounting reports as required

Qualifications (What might describe you)

  • 3+ years experience in an accounting role
  • Skilled in general ledger account reconciliations
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Skilled in working collaboratively with a variety of roles within cross functional teams
  • Ability to foresee the impact of one’s actions across an organization
  • Ability to track and execute on a variety of ongoing reporting and task deadlines
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting systems (preferably Netsuite)
  • Exposure to e-commerce or D2C processes and Shopify platform an asset
  • Accounting degree, CPA designation or pursuit an asset

Salary: $65-$72k CAD based on experience
