The way we heat/cool our homes, power our vehicles, and cook our meals is antiquated: we take for granted that we use fossil fuels in homes to keep them comfortable and healthy.  There is a better way.

Elephant Energy is building a home comfort & electrification platform that helps homeowners get clean, safe, and affordable technologies for their homes and vehicles.  We are growing quickly, supported by the ever increasing demand from customers for more comfortable homes.  This is an exciting opportunity to join at the ground floor and shape how we sell and deploy home comfort and home electrification.

Head of Special Projects is meant to be a super fun, dynamic role where you’ll be contributing at multiple levels, across multiple projects to Elephant Energy.  Every day will be different, but the goal is to help tackle and solve some of the most critical opportunities.  This is an opportunity to start as a generalist with a pathway to grow into a senior management role within Elephant Energy.

Role

  • Multi-disciplinary opportunity to lead multiple strategic projects
    1. Channel (Sales) Partnerships
      1. Need: initiate and cultivate channel partnerships to drive customer growth
      2. Identify key targets, initiate conversations, develop and negotiate frameworks, sign contracts, implement/execute, and continue to build/improve.
      3. Examples: Arcadia, SmartAC, Sierra Club/LCV, Insurance companies, Utilities, Cities / Counties
    2. Customer Journey
      1. Need: help refine and improve every aspect of the customer journey from first contact to project close.
      2. Refine customer communications, proposals, contracts, process and project playbooks, etc
    3. Finance Partnerships
      1. Need: initiate and cultivate channel relationships with finance providers. Financing is key to unlocking the mass market. 
      2. Identify key targets, initiate conversations, negotiate terms, and deliver on outcomes.
      3. Develop underwriting criteria, process, legal documents, and repayment platform
      4. Examples: SparkFund, CommonBond, Good Leap, Mitsubishi, Mosaic, Generate, Brighte, etc
    4. Equipment / OEM / Distributor Partnerships
      1. Need: develop relationships with key suppliers, negotiate volume pricing, negotiate payment terms
      2. Identify highest priority OEMs, initiate conversations, negotiate terms, and deliver on supplier agreements.
      3. Examples: Mitsubishi, Carrier, Rheem, AO Smith, Span, EVSE companies, etc.
    5. Contractor-Partner Relationships
      1. Need: Develop relationships with the best electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contractors. 
      2. Help build the framework of what an ideal relationship should look like, develop legal framework, support negotiation and implementation. 
    6. Operations Building
      1. Need: deploy and iterate on low code / no-code tech deployments across Elephant. Manage a team of ops builders to ensure successful outcomes based on rigorous input requirement scopes, active management, deployment, training, and iterating. 
      2. Build internal systems to help scale, grow, improve CX
      3. Identify and refine tech priorities. Ensure successful deployments.
      4. Refine Project Playbook via active solicitation across all team members.
    7. Company Building
      1. Market Expansion - help develop plan to enter Market #2
        1. Competitive advantage / prioritization across markets
        2. Refine value proposition via customer engagement
      2. Help with standard ‘consultant’ tool kit
        1. Financial models
        2. Investor presentations
        3. Customer contracts, presentations, 
      3. Coach and mentor our team
    8. Who knows
      1. Growing company; lots of wild things that can happen (acquisitions, partnerships, new offices, etc.)
      2. Need to have our best people leading the biggest opportunities

Requirements

  • A business generalist - capable of handling a wide range of situations and conversations, engaging local stakeholders, building cross-functional relationships, developing strategic networks, problem solving with suppliers, and leading internal initiatives.
  • You’re passionate about changing the world via home comfort and clean, energy-efficient technology.
  • You’re a builder, a go-getter, a genuine self-starter; you get stuff done and promptly.
  • You’re outgoing, warm, and feel confident chatting with new people.
  • You’re a fast learner who holds yourself to high expectations (and meets them).
  • You know a little about a lot - Energy, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Business, Finance, Operations, etc.
  • You adhere to realistic timelines and are an expert at managing competing priorities.
  • You appreciate the importance of giving and receiving thoughtful feedback.
  • You can deal with and manage significant levels of ambiguity, appropriate to our startup realities.

Compensation:

  • Pay commensurate with experience
  • $125 - 150k
