We are looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced, creative, and transformative Senior Manager, Technical Program Management, to set and implement across the Systems & Safety department. The Systems & Safety department owns all our systems engineering, system test, release management and functional safety activities across Cruise and is the partner for teams across SW (from Embedded Systems to AI and ML), HW and Operations.
As the Lead TPM for the department, you will be responsible for managing and strengthening a team of TPMs as well as leading planning and execution across the entire engineering team. Working with partners from across the entire company including Directors and VPs, you will solve complicated problems and build the foundation that will allow Cruise to scale their commercialization effort and continue to drive our safety first culture.
The TPM Senior Manager role requires excellent leadership skills, critical thinking, strong technical expertise, and the ability to partner effectively across Cruise! You will have a significant influence on our software and hardware strategy by helping define product and system architecture and orchestrate the leading practices that enable excellence. You will lead a TPM team, collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams across Cruise. At Cruise, we believe in leaders who remain deeply technical, and understand the challenges their teams are facing, even though they may not be contributing directly to the codebase.
Work across technical products to set visions, drive software strategy, align orgs, and deliver outcomes
Proactively identify potential future gaps, plus short-term mitigation and long-term solutions
Collaborate with internal customers and leadership to drive strategic planning and lead intra and inter-department cross-functional dependencies and relationships. This is a highly cross-functional role where you will be working with partners from across the entire company including Directors and VPs.
Ensure Cruise is working on the highest impact/ROI work
Collaborate to build systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and easily extensible
Grow and mentor leaders to scale the organization
Contribute to company-wide initiatives that build a high-performance culture
Empower your team to implement independently while staying engaged via efficient review
Rollout mechanisms that will measure and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization
10+ years of relevant work experience in tech-related fields; including time spent as an engineer or other working on highly technical software products
8+ years of technical program management experience delivering highly impactful and innovative products at scale
5+ years leading other products, programs, operations, and/or engineering leaders
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working across functions and influencing senior leaders
Able to advise VP leadership on technical and execution strategy
Passionate about self-driving car technology and its impact on the world
Bonus points!
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or similar
Strong business acumen - MBA or equivalent work experience
