Job Description

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable longer range, faster charging and enhanced safety in electric vehicles to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future.

We are looking for a diligent technician to support our collaborations with customer teams. Our ideal team member is a skilled, meticulous microscopist, who can work independently and efficiently in large teams, and is capable of helping drive projects to completion ahead of schedule. The current shift for this role is swing shift.
Responsibilities:
X-Ray and optical microscope operation for high-volume analysis of samples while delivering high-quality images and CT scans with low-noise to meet efficiency goals with minimal errors.Responsible for preparing samples; entering and/or uploading data and interpreting and editing test requests. Perform sample prep using a laser milling machine, and associated recipe development.Responsible for training users across teams and ensure instruments are maintained to spec and calibrated.Monitor and record key parameters during tests and apply "on your feet" critical problem skills to consistently deliver reliable, valuable test results.Maintain a clear, concise shift passdown, lab notebook, and equipment maintenance records and work with databases and spreadsheets.This is an on-site position.Ability to working into evenings, weekends and flexibility to cover shift gaps on short notice.
Minimum Requirements:
Possess at least an AA or equivalent or 2 years of combined education and experience.Familiarity with X-Ray or Optical microscope operation.Experience with MS Office and data entry.

Work is performed in bunny-suits in a dry room, fume hood, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills and standing for extended periods of time, reaching and twisting motions with hands, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Preferred:
Experience working with a Li-ion battery or analytical test lab.Experience with chemical handling, sample preparations, and hazardous waste disposal.Experience preparing samples in an inert environment, such as glovebox operations, sample preparation (e.g. electrode depositions).Experience with optical microscopes, 2-D radiography and microCT/XCT, and associated sample preparation.
