Job Description
Overview As part of the Digital Development Infrastructure team, we are looking for a Sr. System Engineer to support the IT environment. You will be responsible for maintaining a large virtual server environment of both Linux and Windows including the storage and backup systems.Your work will be tightly integrated with both the IT and Engineering teams at NIO and will provide cross functional support for day-to-day operations and projects.
Responsibilities· Support the ESX environment: provisioning new Linux and Windows servers, perform ESX upgrades, implement new features to automate routine tasks.· Perform daily backup and monitoring and monthly patching operations· Maintain the backup systems and perform upgrades as needed to stay current.· Provide on-call support of the server and storage environment and respond to alerts from the NOC.· Provision servers and storage as necessary to meet business requirements for deploying new applications or capabilities· Implement and perform capacity planning and perform proactive maintenance to the servers and storage devices to support ongoing growth.· Develop standard operating procedures for maintaining the environment and train the offshore NOC on these operations.· On-call and after-hours support is required· Travel may be required from time to time
Qualifications· 5-7 years working in a system administration role with a primary focus on Linux, ESX, storage administration, and backup· Some working knowledge to deploy and maintain Windows servers· Some working knowledge of Active Directory routine operations and tasks· Ability to support a large virtual environment with an excellent understanding of storage management concepts such as thin provisioning, deduplication, snapshots, replication, and disk to disk or cloud based backups.· Experience setting up and deploying NAS file storage services in a mixed OS environment· Proficiency in at least 1 scripting language to automate tasks· Can diagnose and resolve complex system performance issues and hardware failures· Highly motivated and ability to work well with other teams· Excellent communication skills· Flexibility to adjust to changes in priorities and ability to deliver within constraints Preferred Qualifications· Experience with Veeam backup software· Experience with Purestorage, Nimble, TrueNAS storage platforms· Experience with AWS· Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
