About this Role

We are looking for a Sales Director with experience selling SaaS + Professional Services to build and lead our sales and marketing function. In this role you'll deliver scalable and repeatable sales and marketing strategies for Overyield as well as our project development services. This new role focuses on customer acquisition and sales development.

Requirements

  • 7+ years working in software sales in a closing role (4+ of those years in a manager role where you were responsible for the production of your direct reports) generating $3M+/ARR.

  • Experience implementing Salesforce, Hubspot, or another CRM from scratch and a track record of training, mentoring and ramping a small team to hit quota.

  • The ability and desire to work remotely with a team and travel to meet with leadership on a quarterly basis to meet with leadership in the North East.

Team Growth

  • Today, our sales team is a team of one Account Manager and one Director of Business Development.

  • We have planned and budgeted to bring on an additional Sales Development Representative, an Account Manager, a Marketing Manager, a Go-to-Market Lead depending on traction and growth needs.

Your Manager

You will report into the CEO.

Who you are

  • Experience leading a sales and marketing function at a SaaS company that also provides professional services (we don't believe you have to have experience selling to farmers/landowners, technical service providers or in agtech, it's just a plus)

  • Definitive sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets (you've generated at least $3M/ARR in a previous sales leadership role), and ability to close business and build markets in agriculture.

  • Previous experience in a similar senior-level position on a sales team (aka you've coached, managed, and hired at least 3 direct reports before.)

  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills as well as mentoring, coaching and people management skills, across all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license along with a clean driving record and must be willing to travel as needed or required. Farms are remote, it can be tricky Ubering from farm to farm.

What you’ll do

Sales and process development, rev ops, and management.

  • Grow top-line revenue from ~1M in ARR while building a team to help execute (this is not a plug and play managerial role, we're a 19 person startup, there is a lot to be done, and you'd be a part of a small team.)

  • Implement, customize, and maintain our Salesforce instance. If you have experience setting up CRMs from scratch, let's chat!

  • Establish tracking and reporting methods using Salesforce to better report on sales cycle time, pipeline velocity, win rates, CAC, ARR, CLV, upsells and renewals, customer churn and forecasting

  • Define our Revenue Operations playbook by building processes to drive operations management, enablement, insights and analytics, tech implementation, vendor management, and compliance as it relates to our sales and marketing functions.

  • Lead, coach, and train a sales and marketing team to meet annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts.

  • You will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and training new sales team members. You will create playbooks for sales and rev ops, customize the Salesforce instance, and manage the budget for the sales team.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.

  • Represent the company at trade shows and key business functions in a professional manner to generate prospects, and grow revenue opportunities.

  • Build customer relationships by understanding their needs and objectives while working closely with teammates on sales & marketing opportunities.

The First 30-60-90 Days:

In the first 30-60-90 days, your main focus will be selling, creating playbooks for sales, creating playbooks for rev ops, customizing the Salesforce instance, and developing an onboarding process to support new hires.

Nice to have

  • Experience selling software at an agtech company

  • Experience selling software or professional services to farmers/landowners

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $160,000 a year + Equity + Benefits. Your initial salary will not include commission. You will partner with the CEO and Head of Finance to revamp our existing commission matrix as well as support updating our sales team compensation plans as needed.
