About Propagate

Our mission is to make agroforestry 🌳 a cornerstone of agriculture.

🌾Propagate is a software, development and financing ecosystem that makes it easy for farms to transition acreage to agroforestry. Our platform provides access to agronomic insights, technical assistance, and financing so that farms can reduce risk while integrating fruit, nut and timber trees with animal or crop farming systems.

Who you are

We are seeking a passionate, senior-level engineer to help us build analytics and project development tools for agroforestry. As one of the first engineering hires, you’ll work on all parts of the software development process, from system design and implementation to testing and deployment.

  • You have 3 years of proven software development experience using multiple program languages and frameworks.

  • You value creativity, curiosity, and intellectual honesty, and you are committed to solving problems as a team.

  • You are a generalist willing to work on whatever the most important thing at the moment is.

  • You’re passionate about creating a positive impact, and are motivated to join a small (3+ people), incredibly productive team building agroforestry software tools.

  • You've owned all aspects of the development process: designing, testing, deploying and supporting an application

What you'll do

  • Build scalable mapping tools that work with large geospatial datasets, nuanced economic models and reporting tools

  • Develop farm management software that can feedback into and update our economic models

  • Design tooling for managing financing and investments for agroforestry

  • Be involved in a number of critical decisions for our tech stack and have responsibility over large parts of it

  • Shape and influence our engineering organization as a core member of our team

  • Build an MVP product with the right balance of short-term speed and future scalability in mind

Requirements

  • 3+ years professional software engineering experience on an engineering team

  • You live in the United States and do not require a visa

Nice to haves

  • A college degree in computer science/ bootcamp experience and work experience outside of an internship or apprenticeship

  • Experience working in rapidly-changing startup environment

  • Experience with dev-ops (e.g. setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines)

  • Experience with some or all of our stack

  • Passion for agroforestry and regenerative agriculture

Salary: Depending on the level that you come in as, your experience and expertise, we are able to offer an annual salary between $70,000 - $130,000 USD + Equity.
