About Agricarbon UK

Soil Carbon restoration for climate mitigation and food system resilience

Agricarbon is an industry leader in helping a wide range of clients ranging from single farmers up to international food and beverage companies to participate in removing carbon from the atmosphere and storing it in soil. Over 150 years of industrialised farming, the world has stripped billions of tonnes of organic carbon from our soils, reducing its critical fertility, biodiversity and water-holding capacity.

Regenerative farming practices are key to restoring healthy soils, reducing the agricultural carbon footprint and providing a means to sequester a very large amount of carbon over the coming decades, and play a massive role in reversing the impacts of climate change. This demand for soil carbon restoration will grow exponentially during this time, attracting corporate, philanthropic and governmental investment, and needs solutions to ensure the value of this investment is properly and completely realised.

Agricarbon is an ambitious scale-up with a proven track-record. Our innovative technology-based service measures soil carbon with the highest level of accuracy and value, providing reliable evidence of soil carbon sequestration to secure payments for and investment in CO2 removal. This unlocks the vast carbon sink potential.

Our customers will look to Argicarbon to provide the solution to carbon stock measurement, as well as becoming their partner in navigating the difficulties inherent in an emerging and fast changing market.

The Role

The role demands an innovative, flexible, and adaptable mindset with the ability to instil confidence in customers while demonstrating the value of Agricarbon’s services.

Your key responsibilities in securing direct sales to farming, food processing and farming advisory businesses will be to:

  • Identify customers, establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers, and communicate the value proposition to each customer, precisely and professionally.
  • Define the scope-of-work, develop cost estimates and provide customer quotes.
  • Negotiate terms, understand customer needs and tailor solutions resulting in customer sales.
  • Promote Agricarbon at events, company trials, demonstrations and via informal channels to maximise outreach and the positive exposure of our company.
  • Achieve or surpass annual sales targets based on account acquisition and revenue volume.
  • Advocate the customer position in internal discussions to ensure continued relevancy of our services
  • Keep customers informed on technical and product related updates, and ensure up to date communications
  • Develop your market knowledge as it develops and socialising your findings back to the team.

The Candidate

This role will suit you if you are looking for:

  • A purpose-led organisation with a clear mission to help solve climate change.
  • A fast growing, entrepreneurial organisation where your input will be highly valued by the whole team
  • A high degree of autonomy allowing your experience to define and develop your role in the business.
  • An opportunity to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, in agricultural or environmental disciplines, although we will consider other topics with a covering letter explaining why your experience qualifies you for the position. Strong computer literacy is key.

Skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of regenerative agricultural practices, with a good understanding of the basic principles of soil health, nature restoration and climate-friendly farming.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with engaging customers, in both consultative and process-based selling.
  • Strong analytical and research skills - tracking industry and customer developments, collating and sharing key information and insights with the team.
  • Strong networking skills – proactively develop a high value professional network with peers, partner organisations, customers and other sources of intelligence to drive sales strategy and growth plans.
  • Highly professional – in both internal and external interactions, reflecting the integrity, scientific authority, precision and authenticity that our customers expect.
  • A high degree of literacy and a good eye for presentation, including proficiency with MS Office applications.

Nice to have:

  • Experience of working in a highly innovative and fast-moving sector where innovation is also required for our own business, our customers’ projects and the sales approach that we will need as the market evolves.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Net Zero, decarbonisation and voluntary carbon markets.

Personal characteristics:

Curiosity: naturally inquisitive, quick learner, pro-active, adaptable and hands-on

Passion: enthusiastic about solving climate change, having a major impact at a person, company and global level.

Professionalism: proud to represent the team, with exceptional work ethic, and a high degree of autonomy.

Ambition: motivated and confident to occupy the role fully, and create a big noise within a small, talented scale-up team.
