Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This role sits within the Smart Delivery department,  working in the Smart Platform Team and is based on site at the Rivergate office. There may be instances where working from home is permitted should the task in hand lend itself to this. This team has responsibility for the systems, performance, change and release management to the Smart Infrastructure and unlocking smart eligibility. Our QA Engineers play an integral role in the software delivery process here at OVO either as part of a Project team or working closely with one of our Product & Platform teams

You will work closely with Defect Managers, Technical Specialists, other QA’s and the Lab Manager.

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Execute test scripts inline with business processes, providing evidence of your findings.
  • To assist the Lab Manager & Lab Technician with the safe installation and removal of Smart Metering Assets
  • To Ensure the lab is working and all positions are operational
  • To set up and configure the Test Automation Tool plus associated test assets.
  • To independently operate the Test Automation Tool, executing scripts according to the plan received.
  • To gather test evidence as required during Automation testing according to the scripts.
  • Contribute towards Test Preparation Activities
  • To resolve any minor and common issues with the Test Automation Tool.
  • To ensure that all Smart Metering stock is logged accurately
  • Raising defects in accordance with our business processes and managing them for the entirety of their lifespan and retesting them once fixes are released. 
  • To report potential defects back to the responsible QA for investigation.
  • Update test scripts
  • Send out progress reports on testing and communicate key updates in meetings
  • To Capture ZigBee logs for analysis
  • To assist with the Install & Decommission of devices as directed
  • To Work with other QA’s when device changes are required
  • To Ensure the Labs are left clean and tidy at all times, arrange periodic cleaning and rubbish removal

Essential skills and experience:

  • The candidate should have an interest in electrical Installation and maintaining electrical systems, equipment and devices
  • Self-motivated results orientated approach to work with a business and customer  
  • Great verbal and written communications.
  • Self starter and motivated team player who delivers the best work every time.
  • Liaising with and managing 3rd party suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Prioritisation and decision making.
  • Planning and control of complex technical activities
  • Desirable Knowledge and experience but full training will be provided
  • An understanding of Software Testing 
  • Relevant Professional qualifications / certifications
