As we expand our focus from raising government NDC ambition to concrete policies at the systems or sector level, we are seeking for an exceptional Manager to join the policy team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be at the forefront of working with businesses on policy advocacy with the goal of halving global emissions by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050 at the latest.

While this position is situated in the Policy team, the Manager will work very closely with the Systems Transformation team and more broadly act as a bridge between policymakers and business.

About our organization

We Mean Business Coalition is a coalition of 7 non-profit organizations and 50+ partner organizations that unites the voice of thousands of businesses that are taking climate action. We provide a platform for businesses to demonstrate climate leadership through 4As: ambition, action, advocacy and accountability.

We advocate for bold climate policy through international fora (G7, G20, COP and other) and G20 countries to unlock business action within 6 systems: Energy, Transport, Built Environment, Industry, Land and nature, and Finance.

We have a dual role as re-grantor and as strategic partner to the organizations we work with. We work together with the International Policy Working Group (IPWG) with policy specialists, Transformation Teams with sector specialists from Coalition partners, and with partners in several G20 countries. This is to ensure we can go deep into international fora, countries and sectors and bring together the critical mass of ambitious companies and partners for maximum impact.

Responsibilities

  • Translate government climate-related commitments made in international fora, NDCs and national strategies to policies for systems/sectors in priority geographies to identify opportunities and priorities for advocacy where a united business voice can have an impact
  • Develop a framework and process for WMBC to track and engage effectively on priority policy advocacy opportunities for systems/sectors across priority G20 countries.
  • Support the policy team with the development and delivery of advocacy strategies/campaigns and coordination of partners around these, in close collaboration with partner geographic policy leads, system leads, and communication leads
  • Coordinate the development of local partnerships to develop and deliver advocacy in-country to complement advocacy for international fora
  • Coordinate grant proposals with partners and track progress on grant delivery to time, budget and achievement of KPIs
  • Participate in relevant meetings, coordinate the policy team's interaction with other WMB teams, and liaise with relevant partners from across the WMB network best suited to influence.
