Soil Carbon Research Assistant - US (Full-time, 6 month contract)

Job Summary

 

Regrow is looking for a Soil Carbon Research Assistant to further soil carbon research by extracting field data from papers and databases and to develop connections into the models used in production at Regrow. 

 

This role is a full time, fixed contract for 6 months, working closely with our soil carbon team in the US with the possibility of conversion into a full-time role based on performance. 

 

What you will do:

  • Assist with and or lead extraction of field data (GHG, Soil and Crop metrics as well as crop management)  from scientific papers, databases and research connections into format for model scenario generation and evaluation. 
  • Assist with research on common crops, fertilizers, organic amendment attributes that can be used for model parameterization
  • Perform literature reviews on regenerative agricultural practices and GHG and soil health impact 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Soil Science, Agronomy,  Earth Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews, database management,  working with field measurements and conversions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, clear communication skills, ability to work and manage time independently
  • Experience with field methodologies for soil health, carbon science and/or crop science
  • Understanding of agricultural practices, familiar with agricultural and soil science field research.

Desirable Skills: (bonus if you have them)

  • Skill and knowledge of Python (or other scientific programming languages). 
  • Familiar with DNDC model or other soil models (Daycent etc.)
