We’re looking for a Systems Technician to join our Macroalgae Expansion team. Our team is developing novel production systems for macroalgae cultivation at scale, as well as supporting ongoing research and verification platform architecture, systems, and design. Our team is responsible for the built environment as it pertains to Running Tide’s Macroalgae growing systems -including by not limited to high level systems designs, including fluid flow dynamics and equipment sizing, hvac system design and optimizations (specifically cooling equipment), electrical systems designs, software integration for automating macroalgae research and production, contractor and vendor management, project managements, material sourcing, budget tracking, and team management, and project execution.
This is a full-time salaried position located in Portland, Maine

You Will:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to help design, source, and execute on projects pertaining to macroalgae production.
  • Be primarily focused on installing and troubleshooting technical systems, including HVAC systems, electrical systems, water and air flow and delivery systems, and built environments
  • Help to commission systems once complete
  • Help to train technicians and end users of the system upon successful commissioning
  • Help to establish maintenance protocols and advice on best practices in the R&M process
  • Take input from multiple stakeholders and be flexible on day to day directives / priorities

You Are (or You Have):

  • Excited to learn what you don’t know
  • Incredible mechanical aptitude across a wide array of space (electrical, plumbing, multi-material fabrication)
  • Independently motivated with a strong ability to communicate effectively and stay on task
  • Capable of maintaining multiple projects and task lists in different phases
  • Able to critically prioritize based on inputs from the team
  • Excellent with hand and contractor grade power tools
  • Excited to travel, including multi-weekly stints as needed

  • Project Management
  • Proficient with technology
  • CEM background
  • CAD
