About the Role:  

The accounting team at Planet is seeking a new Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. You will step into a key role within the Controller’s group and work under the direction of the Senior Technical Accounting Director. You will leverage your experience with technical accounting matters and knowledge of SEC reporting requirements to direct the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings and provide guidance and support to the accounting team and key stakeholders within the organization.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Direct the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements filed with the SEC, including drafting financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A
  • Assist in the preparation and review of periodic earnings releases and related materials
  • Assist with the management of technical accounting workstreams relating to new transactions, business combinations, and implementation of new accounting standards. Research, document and provide guidance on proper accounting and disclosure treatment. 
  • Partner and coordinate with cross-functional groups, including accounting, FP&A, legal and investor relations
  • Manage the documentation and maintenance of critical accounting policies
  • Coordinate with external auditors in connection with quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Assist with M&A diligence and post-acquisition integration activities
  • Coordinate with the accounting and FP&A teams to identify improvements and efficiencies in the financial reporting process
  • Prepare the accounting for stock-based compensation and prepare equity related journal entries
  • Prepare quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP disclosure checklist
  • Develop and participate in training of accounting policies
  • Maintain support and documentation supporting SOX compliance
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including public accounting firm experience working with publicly traded companies.
  • CPA license
  • Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements. Experience with researching, resolving and documenting technical accounting matters. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational and project management skills with experience managing multiple assignments simultaneously
  • A team player, adept at building relationships across the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Big 4 public accounting firm experience at the supervising senior or manager level
  • Experience with Workiva and/or NetSuite is a plus

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $81,000 - $159,000. This role is eligible for equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, and other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
