Job Description

RMI is seeking an experienced Development Specialist with exceptional organizational, project management, writing, and communication skills. This position will support frontline fundraisers, each managing multi-million-dollar portfolios from foundations and institutional funders. The specialist will drive several critical processes on behalf of our fundraising team including scheduling meetings with key stakeholders (funders, fundraisers, senior leaders, etc.), assisting with donor data and management, and maintaining momentum on ongoing activities and external relationships. This person will also coordinate with programmatic and operational staff across RMI while building effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

·       Support the Senior Director on RMI’s two largest institutional funder relationships (Approximately 25%)

·       Schedule meetings between Foundation fundraisers and key stakeholders. (Approximately 50% of time). This includes scheduling donor meetings that involve multiple internal and external stakeholders across multiple time zones. 

·       Communicate with counterparts at foundations and across RMI programs in a professional and timely manner.

·       Working with the Development Operations Lead and Gift Processer, process grant agreements and contracts.

·       File Essential Documents in Salesforce and input/update tasks associated with each opportunity

·       Assist as needed for Development Operations Lead—Foundations to track upcoming donor reports, coordinate with program teams to develop narrative reports, coordinate with Accounting team on financial reports, and work with fundraisers to design and execute comprehensive stewardship plans.

·       Assist Senior Director in setting agenda for weekly Foundations vertical meetings and take notes as needed

·       Support fundraisers in key meetings, including notetaking, with donors and external stakeholders, and, at times, manage follow up.

·       Maintain high-quality and up-to-date data in Salesforce, Monday.com, and Sharepoint

·       Additional responsibilities, as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·       A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible administrative, operations, project management or related experience

·       Experience scheduling meetings for multiple parties across different timezones

·       Experience at nonprofit organizations

·       Experience on a fundraising team or at a foundation

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office and Salesforce

·       Proven organization skills and flexibility when it comes to balancing priorities

·       Attention to detail and exceptional accuracy

Additional Qualifications:

·       Experience working with senior staff in various organizations

·       Experience with Salesforce

·       Interest in philanthropy, climate, and energy

·       Proactive attitude and the ability to anticipate need

·       Excellent and intuitive writing and editing skills

·       Strong team and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently

·       Ability to manage stakeholder relationships

·       Strong verbal and written communications skills

·       Demonstrable problem-solving skills

·       Ability to effectively multitask

·       Good judgment and strong decision-making ability

Preferred Qualifications:

Location:

We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.

We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.

We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation:

RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new specialists join at the minimum to mid salary range of $61,000-$74,000. You would also have an additional 5% bonus target!
