Job Description

Climate Central is working to help people understand climate change and to communicate the effects and solutions in a non-partisan way. We’re devoted to making complex ideas accessible without giving up the scientific rigor that provides evidence and foundational context. Our team of scientists and technologists has grown significantly over the past few years and we are looking for a motivated Project Manager to help us better communicate internally and to deliver more products more quickly.

Key responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and regularly with internal stakeholders about the status of projects and to clarify requirements
  • Help manage internal and external developers to ensure timely completion of work and transparently communicate changes to both deliverables and the schedule
  • Ensure that deliverables meet requirements and are ready for release

Opportunities for additional responsibility:

  • Teach internal and external users how to use new features and products
  • Gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders
  • Synthesize descriptions of features and distill tasks for design and developments
  • Suggest, calculate, and report on metrics that quantify the success of projects
  • Present successes, hiccups, and failures to management and the team
  • Providing input into new product direction and new features

In your first 6 months, we’d like to see:

  • A more effective, standardized communication of project status for both stakeholders and developers
  • Delivery of key refinements and new features to core Climate Central projects

We’re looking for someone:

  • Very detail-oriented who both notices when something is wrong and isn’t afraid to say so
  • Who can navigate the realities of effective communications for a distributed, international team and can bring a message to an audience in a manner they will be most receptive to
  • Who balances competence and ambition with self-awareness. This role manages both resources and expectations and will need to keep team members focused, motivated, and excited.
  • With some experience working in project management, technology, or science communication - but if you think you’d be a good fit and don’t have that experience, please apply and tell us why you think so!
