AMP Robotics is hiring a Director of Hardware Engineering reporting to the VP of Engineering, to focus on the development of AMP products. This includes managing and growing a team of hardware engineers, program managers and other skills that encompass robotic design, automation solutions, mechanical and electrical disciplines.

Our ideal candidate is a driven, results-focused and energetic person with experience building groundbreaking products that are only possible because of hardware advancements of the last decade and capable of helping develop sustainable product development with both internal innovation solutions as well as leveraging out-sourcing partners as needed.

You will be working hand in hand with our product teams to create robotic sorting systems that fundamentally improves the performance of recycling sorting systems, lower recycling costs, and brings recycling to large and underserved communities.

As our Director of Hardware Engineering, you will work to:

  • Drive the architecture and lead development of AMP's hardware across all products.
  • Develop best practices for hardware engineering, release, and quality.
  • Lead road-mapping efforts with senior leadership as well as product management, goal setting, and regular reporting of progress.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Manage an engineering team delivering quality hardware, proactively identifying opportunities & challenges, and regularly reporting key results.
  • Be a cultural leader at AMP. Recruit, build, and develop a team of top tier technical talent focused on developing technology for environmental good.

The successful candidate will have:

Required:

  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence through mentoring and coaching, providing timely feedback as well as more formal performance appraisals.
  • Manage multiple projects, teams, and schedules in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining a high operational tempo.
  • Prioritize business requirements, coordinate successful/timely releases, and achieve quality objectives.
  • Lead strategic planning and design sessions covering R&D, Product Management, and Build & Install to create shared visions and technical strategies.
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers and strategic partners.
  • Work with customers to understand their needs and business priorities.
  • Set the technical direction and be involved in design discussions and code reviews.
  • Ensure common standards, processes, and tools wherever feasible.
  • Ability and willingness to take on a variety of roles with a minimum of direction.
  • Controls Engineering team budget, responsible for justifying and controlling outsourced and consulting projects
  • Facilitate Design Reviews and ensure that engineering design quality matches program, customer and operational requirements.
  • Engage with all organizational functions including, but not limited to, Product Management, Operations, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal-IP Leadership and Sales/Marketing teams.  May be required to engage directly with external customers on a time to time basis and represent AMP Robotics professionally.
  • Develop engineering processes that maximize team performance and allow for consistent high quality technical deliverables for committed projects.



Preferred: 

  • Recycling or similar industry experience. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

Experience: 

  • 10-15 year’s plus experience.

Salary & Compensation Information: $190,000 - $205,000 annual salary depending on experience

Full-Time / Salaried Employees

  • Medical - The company covers up 85% to 100% of the premium for Cigna healthcare plans depending on the selection. Employees pay the difference in premium if they select a more expensive plan. Up to 75% for dependents. 
  • 401(k) retirement plan (non-matching).
  • Seven (7) paid holidays – 7 company designated and 2 floating holidays. (salaried employees only)
