Why we need you:

  • With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Electronics Packaging to join the Mechanical Engineering team at Wisk. In this role you will design and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical designs for use in our next generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. As part of the Mechanical Engineering functional team, you will have the opportunity to support our integrated product teams in the area of propulsion, battery, passenger and avionic systems.
  • The successful candidate has a strong mechanical background with the understanding of first principles and how they drive design.  In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking, and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and lead a team of like-minded engineers.

What you will do:

  • As an individual contributor, you will function as the responsible Mechanical Engineer on programs and internal development projects
  • Responsible for the conceptual layouts, design, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems
  • Conduct thermal, stress, and dynamic analysis to ensure design can survive required environmental specifications
  • Conduct tolerance analysis on piece parts and assemblies to ensure proper fit in all instances
  • Work with Configuration Management to maintain all design documentation
  • Perform product validation activities to include thermal and structural testing 

What you have done:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • 5+ year experience in electro-mechanicals design with focus on electronics packaging 
  • Familiar with CAD software such as Siemens NX (preferred), CATIA, Solidworks, etc.

Desired:

  • Experience with shock and vibrational mechanical testing and validation
  • Experience with thermal and structural finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Working knowledge of both Military and Industrial specifications
