Job Description

As Kodama's autonomy systems engineer, you will manage the system architecture of our forest restoration solution. This includes optimizing site connectivity and communication, selecting sensors, and defining semi-autonomous operations. You will influence every aspect of Kodama's in-forest autonomy stack and serve as a mentor for the rest of the engineering team.

 

Responsibilities
  • Developing forest autonomy systems serving as “chief engineer”

  • Delivering usable and/or demo-able products on a weekly basis

  • Establishing feedback and insights from simulation, on-equipment, tele-operation, and integration testing

  • Performing physics, dynamics, and data/statistical analysis

  • Analyzing system architecture for tradeoffs

  • Creating an agile development environment

  • Leading FMEA and design reviews

  • Leading and mentoring

 

Basic Qualifications
  • End-to-end systems engineering experience and capability in analysis, requirements development and V&V

  • Effective in communicating complex concepts and driving resolutions

  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways

  • Extensive results and data analysis

  • Experience with creating software, scripts and queries with multiple languages (SQL, Python, Matlab, C++, etc.)

  • BS in Robotics, Systems, Computer Science, Electrical, Software, or equivalent

 

Bonus Point Qualifications
  • Software and hardware test development

  • Creating software integration and/or unit tests

  • Automated dashboards fusing test results and data from simulation and on-equipment sensing

  • Development and production version control (git or equivalent)

  • Safety Analysis experience on complex safety critical systems

  • MS/PhD in Robotics, Systems, Computer Science, Electrical, Software, or equivalent
