Who You Are

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer supporting packaging, your technical expertise and leadership will be critical to meeting our safety, quality, and production goals. Working with Equipment Engineering, Materials Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and external vendors, you will evaluate and design packaging systems that meet product performance standards, eliminate waste, and improve efficiency. You will also lead process throughput, performance, and safety improvements to our existing packaging and bulk powders handling systems.

You have excellent communication skills and are able to collaborate seamlessly with internal teammates and external partners. As we grow and scale our operations, you will have an opportunity to provide technical support to other areas of our manufacturing process and to support the design of our next-generation battery material factory. Your work will have an enduring impact on the success of Sila’s current products and our future factories.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for packaging equipment. Get passionate about firefighting, analyzing, and addressing operational challenges.
  • Work with internal teams to evaluate, design, and optimize existing packaging systems, including collaborating with shipping and storage
  • Serve as a focal point to externals partners and vendors to evaluate packaging materials, perform pilot tests, and implement long-term solutions
  • Ensure all materials and designs enable a safe and productive environment for manufacturing and maintenance personnel
  • Serve as a key manufacturing representative on teams developing the next generation of powder handling and packaging equipment

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing experience in in bulk powders manufacturing or packaging engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial, chemical, mechanical engineering or similar field
  • Proven technical understanding and ability to solve production equipment and processes
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners on complex problems to deliver process and design improvements
  • Can effectively manage multiple responsibilities, is self-motivated, and can work autonomously with minimal guidance; comfortable with ambiguity and eager to create structure
  • Excellent listening and verbal/written communication skills #LI-FM1

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Pass a respirator fit test and be able to wear respiratory protection
  • Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and hard toe safety shoes.
  • This role may require routine production support during nights and weekends
