Job Description

This position is a critical component of our Sales team and will be responsible for growing the business across the US. This is a remote / home office position. This position will report to the Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. The primary job functions of the Vehicle Incentives & Policy Specialist will be leading the incentive strategy.  The ideal candidate for this role will have a combination of customer/partner engagement, proposal & grant writing, and incentive compliance execution. This role requires a high degree of self-management and the ability to deliver results without the need for constant supervision.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Understanding state, local and federal incentives programs for electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and low carbon fuel standard (LCFS) credits
  • Developing and delivering internal and external training and promotional webinars
  • Educating Motiv employees, customers and partners on upcoming incentives programs and requirements
  • Executing incentive applications programs by jurisdictions
  • Customer needs assessment for incentive and credit options
  • Inform quote generation process for customer funding and credit options
  • Build & delivery schedule tracking alignment with incentive programs
  • Managing federal credits and incentives opportunities including Research and Development tax credit/ deduction analysis, New Markets Tax Credit, Qualified Opportunity Zones, Renewable Energy tax credits, and other federal credit incentive service offerings
  • Leveraging your extensive technical skills developed through your growing reputation in a given industry/ service offering to solve complex issues
  • Demonstrating sound judgment and instincts with respect to evaluating complex scenarios involving various credits and incentives opportunities
  • Developing, mentoring, and motivating Consultants and Senior Consultants, providing counseling and career guidance
  • Advising companies on incentives and options
  • Design and build incentive plans
  • Interfacing and working with corporate systems and key management personnel and participating in board meetings

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, engineering, finance, law, technology, data analysis domain or equivalent combination of education or related field, including experience with incentives, grants and request for proposal (RFP) management
  • Experience presenting to channel partners including customer teams, leadership, maintenance, transportation directors and route planners
  • Experience with visualization from data analysis
  • Experience in designing and consulting employee incentive and/or options plans a plus
  • Exceptional time management and follow-up skills
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Highly proficient in English and bilingual skills a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
  • Ability to self-manage with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn independently and proactively
  • Ability to drive processes and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lead business development processes
  • 25% travel requires the ability to leverage all mobile work tools to deliver exceptional customer experiences regardless of your location.
  • Cross department collaboration with customer experience, product delivery, finance, legal and marketing is critical to this role

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Technology, English, Communications, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in core federal tax compliance
  • Proven knowledge of R&D tax incentives experience or experience with New Markets Tax Credits, Qualified Opportunity Zones, or Renewable Energy tax credits
  • At least one of the following Accreditations:
  • Licensed CPA in state of practice/ primary office or paralegal
  • Licensed attorney
  • Enrolled agent
  • Professional Engineer (PE)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience within the Big 4 or an equivalent in law firms or related industry
  • Advanced degree such as MST, MACC, LLM, or JD
  • Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
  • Ability to participate in all aspects of engagement strategic planning initiatives
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

Physical Requirements: 

  • Travel up to 25%
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
