Senior Backend Engineer

Tomorrow.io’s Engineering team is a mixture of scientists and engineers committed to generating the best and most novel data and models across all times: historical, real-time and forecast. We also focus on making everything become a weather station (from cars to microwave links to IoT devices). The story just begins when the data hits our ingest and post-processing services. Every product that the user sees is the result of a pipeline of algorithms that needs to be run quickly and continuously. We are the team that builds the architecture behind the data and the models, to prepare the weather analyses, for the Product and Engineering team to serve to the masses.

We are now at a pivotal point, where our vision for data driven decision support platform leads us to districts of big-data, data pipelines, query engine, AI\ML, complex event processing and more. And we are starting to build it from scratch. This is a huge opportunity that comes rarely in a lifetime of a company.

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who'll Lead, Design and Create scalable, cost effective, high quality and easy to maintain infrastructure systems that will support Tomorrow.io next-generation needs. As Senior Backend Engineer you'll work with other team members to find the best tools and approach to overcome the challenges.

What you'll do:

• Improve your skills, learn from and mentor top-notch engineers, and enrich other team members.
• Perform code reviews, design reviews, evaluate implementations, and provide feedback to fellow team members.
• Help improve and automate the process by detecting inefficiencies, suggesting ways to improve and implement them.
• Contribute to the company’s engineering culture, by implementing best engineering practices and a positive approach
• Plan your work, estimate the effort, provide due dates, and deliver on them.
• Have the ability to learn and become an expert in his/her domain
• Continuous learning and improvement process on each task.

What we need?

• 5+ years experience with Big Data and NoSql
• Queue/Stream concept
• Data Pipeline & Monitoring
• Data processing, Query and Rules Engines

• Experience and enthusiasm in several of the team’s professional expertise
• You possess a can-do attitude. When tackling a problem, you think about how to solve it, before explaining why it’s complicated.
• Teamwork is natural to you. You reach out to peers and cooperate with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.
• You are independent, responsible and have good self-management skills. You know to estimate effort, manage your time, and work in a predictive manner.
