<p><strong>The Role</strong><br />We seek a software developer to join our Product Labs engineering team, a remote-by-default collaboration-first product development team. In this role, you&rsquo;ll be joining in the formation of a new product development team.</p>
<p>At this early stage of team formation, we are focused on hiring experienced generalists who can set a solid foundation and culture for the future growth of the Product Labs team. This means we prioritise engineers with experience in Extreme Programming (XP), Domain Driven Design and our chosen technology stack (React, TypeScript, and Kotlin).</p>
<p>This is a remote-first role, but we encourage dedicated in-person collaboration days at our London co-working space, making the UK a preferred location.</p>
<p><strong>What You Will Do</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Contribute to the sustainable delivery of quality software.</strong>&nbsp;You will produce code across the entire application stack. You&rsquo;ll deliver well-tested and maintainable code, balancing sustainable quality with impactful velocity. You will do so primarily through collaborative pair and ensemble programming, but you may also do so independently by participating in peer-reviewed development when appropriate.</li>
<li><strong>Collaborate as part of a cross-functional team.</strong>&nbsp;You will collaborate with our Product Director, scientific domain experts, designers and other engineers to perform continuous product discovery. You will work with other engineers to scope and run technical experiments, practice rigorous iteration and deliver value in small steps.</li>
<li><strong>Support our customers.</strong>&nbsp;We believe in owning the products that we build. You will help the team define our KPIs, product SLOs, and alerting thresholds. You will participate in an on-call rotation to support issues that might affect our customers and help our team identify and reduce operational toil that limits our impact.</li>
<li><strong>Support our teammates.</strong>&nbsp;It&rsquo;s never too soon to begin mentoring other engineers. You&rsquo;ll do so through pair programming, code reviews, daily communication with your team, giving and receiving thoughtful feedback, and helping your teammates grow.</li>

Perhaps you&rsquo;ve built a map-based user experience or crafted geospatial queries for a proximity-based gaming app. You might not be a geospatial expert, but you&rsquo;re comfortable discussing coordinate systems and the differences between vector and raster data.</li>
<li><strong>A strong sense of collaborative teamwork.</strong>&nbsp;You are comfortable participating fully in the collaborative Extreme Programming approach to development, product discovery and teamwork. You believe by embracing collaborative practices, we are more likely to achieve our shared objectives, benefit our users through rapid delivery, grow together by sharing knowledge, and ensure that every teammate can get the rest and time away they need.</li>
<li><strong>Comfortable supporting production software.</strong>&nbsp;You have experience shipping features to production and understand how to investigate and triage issues in your deployed code. You may have participated in an on-call rotation before and have opinions about making it an effective and positive experience.</li>

<li>Assess the role of the project in socioeconomic development and strategize ways to maximize positive impact.</li>
<li>Identify socioeconomic risks associated with the project and develop mitigation strategies to address them.</li>
<li>Analyze potential trade-offs between carbon, stakeholder, and biodiversity considerations in project design.</li>
<li>Develop strategies for long-term decoupling from extractive practices to ensure project sustainability.</li>
<li>Design projects to be resilient and sustainable under the expected socioeconomic trajectory of the area.</li>
<li>Perform a range of planning, advisory and research functions related to designing Revalue&rsquo;s approach to ensuring safeguard processes are implemented with the highest integrity.</li>
<li>Maintain positive relationships with clients and development partners through proactive and professional communication.</li>

<p><strong><em>Quality project implementation and oversight:</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Work with project partners to develop community baselines and monitoring approaches.</li>
<li>Provide direction and advisory support to regional staff and project partners to ensure accountability for project excellence.</li>
<li>Identify and elaborate Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) consultation plans for a broad range of stakeholders, including the most vulnerable and disenfranchised.</li>
<li>Conduct research studies to identify pressing social issues associated with deforestation and degradation.</li>
<li>Assess the social impacts of proposed NBS strategies, propose mitigation approaches where potential negative impacts are identified, and look to maximise positive and multiplicative impacts.</li>
<li>Lead quality assessment and control of projects against high integrity standards by developing quality assurance and control procedures and ensuring their implementation.</li>
<li>Maintain high level of rigor on analyses, including close adherence to the latest best practices and recommendations from the international community.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><em>Building the capacity of Revalue staff and partners:</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Build the capacity of the Revalue team and project partners in informing, designing, interpreting and applying safeguards to our projects.</li>
<li>Serve as an ambassador for Revalue to a diverse range of audiences, emphasising our unique capabilities in addressing environmental and social issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate with regional staff and project proponents to ensure cooperation on cross-cutting issues and initiatives.</li>

<p><strong>What do we expect from you?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Master&rsquo;s degree or PhD or a minimum of 7 years&rsquo; experience in social sciences, climate change, working on safeguards in the land use sector or a related field.</li>
<li>Experience in the development of AFOLU projects and/or programs in the voluntary and/or compliance carbon market (e.g., VERRA) is highly desired.</li>
<li>At least five years of experience working with tropical countries with technical and/or operational issues related to safeguards and land use, or related issues.</li>
<li>Experience in survey design (including sensitive information techniques).</li>
<li>Strong qualitative and quantitative statistical skills.</li>
<li>Evidence of applied ethics training.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication in English and another language (preference for Swahili, Spanish, Bahasa Indonesia, Portuguese or French).</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in research and public communication on social issues.</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal skills required.</li>
<li>Ability and willingness to travel internationally.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to present in front of an audience.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts to a broader audience.</li>
