They will grow our existing audiences and acquire new audiences by using social media to reach and engage them. Earthjustice’s social media team creates, publishes,  and evaluates its content, which includes written, multimedia (audio/video), and graphics to be used across all of Earthjustice’s paid, earned, shared, and owned content. Our social media content is a critical component of our goal to mobilize supporters to affect policy change, evangelize Earthjustice’s work and that of its partners, clients, and allies, and raise funds. Responsible for ensuring Earthjustice is seen as a trusted thought leader on its social channels, the Associate Director serves as a key leader in Earthjustice’s rapid response efforts and a trusted advisor to senior communications leadership. The Associate Director will work collaboratively across communications teams (digital engagement, creative content, marketing, and public affairs) and with development and program staff. They lead strategy development and execution, manage staff and budgets, and is accountable for growth and engagement goals.  </div><div>  </div><div>The Associate Director of Social Media reports to the Director of Digital Engagement, who is based in Earthjustice’s San Francisco office.  </div><div>  </div><div>Preference will be given to candidates willing to work hybrid from the NYC, SF, LA, or DC offices. However, we will also consider remote applicants within the US.  </div><div>  </div><div><strong>Responsibilities </strong>  </div><div>  </div><div>Leadership Responsibilities (40%)  </div><ul><li>Partner with communications leadership and social media team members to develop strategic visions for individual social media platforms and a holistic vision for social media’s role in amplifying Earthjustice’s brand and messaging.</li><li>Maintain expert knowledge of social media industry trends and best practices, their applications to Earthjustice, and build a culture of learning and excellence among social media team members.</li><li>Set audience definitions, growth, and engagement goals across all social media channels; oversee the tracking and reporting of social media KPIs and use data to refine strategies and tactics.</li><li>In partnership with marketing, digital engagement, and digital fundraising teams, engage with our paid media buying agency to develop strategies for growing our list and meeting fundraising goals; oversee in-house rapid response boosting strategies to promote key content.</li><li>Oversee the visual identity and tone of our social media presence to ensure brand and message consistency across channels; oversee the coordination and production of digital graphics and animations in support of major campaigns.</li><li>Develop and maintain relationships with external content creators, agencies, and freelancers; Oversee social media influencer engagement in partnership with the marketing team to support major advocacy and fundraising initiatives</li><li>Provide staff with direct, consistent, and constructive feedback and contribute to a wider culture of learning within the communications department and Earthjustice; promote team building and staff engagement to strengthen teamwork and collaboration both within the social media team and with other communications teams and departments.</li><li>Develop and oversee the social media budget: track spending, ensure budgeted resources match priorities, and be a responsible steward of Earthjustice resources.</li><li>Oversee in-house training programs to broaden social media fluency and adoption by key program staff; serve as strategic advisor to communications and senior leadership on social media matters.</li></ul><div>Social Media Execution (30%)  </div><ul><li>Engage stakeholders to build out content strategies that deliver creative, compelling, and engaging content in support of our weekly and quarterly communications priorities.</li><li>Build and maintain a social media content calendar and lead efforts to update and refine it where necessary.</li><li>Develop and implement rapid response processes to handle breaking news moments; <h2>Overview</h2><p>NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. Today, our team of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and the globe from our offices in Beijing; Bozeman, Montana; Chicago; New Delhi; New York; San Francisco; Santa Monica; and Washington, D.C. </p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong> </p><p>The Senior Content Marketer will report to the Editorial Director and will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase content engagement and drive audience growth. This role will leverage knowledge of digital and content trends and analytics/SEO tools to craft engaging content for digital audiences using a data-driven approach.
