We are accepting candidates across the country, preferably tied to one of our hub locations of Boston, Chicago, Portland, ME, or DC.What you'll do:<ul><li>This position reports to the Director, Electrical Engineering and will work closely with Grid Integration Engineering and Design Engineering to design and commission commercial, industrial, and utility-scale PV+ESS designs.</li><li>Specify and review equipment shop drawings for switchgear, transformers, reclosers and other major electrical equipment. </li><li>Perform advanced electrical modeling in ETAP and AmpCalc to coordinate system protection, determine fault-duty ratings, calculate arc-flash hazards, and run step/touch grounding analysis. </li><li>Manage scope of work for 3rd party electrical engineers including but not limited to studies; protection coordination, power flow, arc flash, Step/touch grounding analysis, PSCAD and PSSE modeling, and substation design.</li><li>Support the Grid Integration and Design Engineering team: <ul><li>Review, analyze, and interpret utility pre-screen reports, System Impact Studies, Interconnection Service Agreements, and utility negotiations.</li><li>Witness test procedure review, code interpretation, protective settings development.</li><li>Implementation of non-wires alternatives, selective curtailment, and other grid-edge technologies.</li><li>Train and mentor junior engineering personnel.</li><li>Complete Project design reviews; review of single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and site layout designs for compliance with code, best practices, and utility requirements.</li><li>Respond to RFIs on active construction projects as required.</li></ul></li><li>Provide technical support to Nexamp commissioning:<ul><li>Review medium-voltage equipment tests and factory tests.</li><li>Develop mitigation plans for non-performance to establish safe operation.</li><li>Review RDB files and relay test reports.</li><li>Certify mechanical completion on construction complete projects.</li></ul></li><li>Provide technical support to Nexamp development, EPC, and O&amp;M departments for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases.</li><li>Lead new product research and implementation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and best practices.</li><li>Assist the Director in the identification of process improvements and lead initiatives.</li><li>Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct.</li></ul>What you'll bring:<ul><li>9+ years of electrical engineering experience.</li><li>4+ years of PV experience.</li><li>Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering and PE certification.</li><li>AutoCAD software proficiency.</li><li>ETAP, SKM, or AmpCalc modeling experience.</li><li>AcSELerator and RDB generation.</li><li>PSSE, Aspen, or PSCAD modeling experience preferred.</li><li>Utility scale design and HV substation experience or effective grounding expertise.</li><li>Expertise industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other industry standards.</li><li>Expertise of electrical principles, including medium voltage distribution, protection system coordination and relaying principles.</li><li>Strong knowledge of construction means and methods.</li><li>Ability to work as part of a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team, demonstrated leadership capability of multi-disciplined teams.</li><li>Valid Driver’s License or ability to obtain same.</li><li>Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.  </li><li>Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
