However, significant obstacles exist for innovators and developers to successfully deploy in New York&rsquo;s unique market. The Energy Storage Capital Challenge is focused on one key need: Aligning capital to accelerate innovative energy storage projects.
We are supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and New Energy New York (NENY). The Clean Fight is looking for a Senior Accountant as we prepare for continued growth and program expansion. You will work directly with our Director of Operations to support the full range of financial management functions required to deliver our world-class programs. The person in this role should bring experience in nonprofit financial management and federal grant reporting and compliance, and strong attention to detail and accuracy. You will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision making.

<h3>The Ideal Candidate</h3>
We are looking for someone who combines accounting expertise with an interest in supporting the clean energy transition. This position requires a strong background in US GAAP accounting principles and non-profit accounting, experience managing federal government grants, solid background in budgeting and financial forecasting, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of general accounting related duties. As such, the successful candidate will have a "roll-up-the-sleeves" attitude and be eager for a high-visibility, wide-ranging role that helps us strategize as our programming expands. They thrive in a start-up environment and are self-motivated, solutions-oriented, resourceful, and able to prioritize and multitask. Limited travel may be requested from time to time as is occasional availability after-hours for meetings with the global controllers team who work from various time zones.

<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
&nbsp;
General Accounting and Financial Reporting
<ul>
<li>Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records using QuickBooks.</li>
<li>Manage AP/AR, expense reporting, bank transfers, and other bookkeeping.</li>
<li>Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.</li>
<li>Manage vendor contracting.</li>
<li>Make suggestions on money management and ensure cash accounts meet cash and FDIC deposit insurance requirements.</li>
<li>Support external audits, including Federal Single Audits.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Oversee payroll, including PEO relationship (Emplicity), and ensure HR compliance in all regards.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Manage D&amp;O, general liability, and other insurance policies.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>

Federal Grants Compliance and Contract Management
<ul>
<li>Ensure requirements for all grants and contracts are systematically captured and met.</li>
<li>Ensure program, processes, and policies conform to all federal government requirements.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develop reports and forecasting models to calculate incurred costs and indirect rates; analyze indirect cost drivers.</li>
<li>Ensure cost allocations are accurate and program budgets stay on track.</li>
<li>Ensure proper time tracking protocols are followed and staff time allocations are appropriate.</li>
<li>Ensure organization is up-to-date on all new rules and regulations as they pertain to grants, contracts, and financial management activities.</li>

<li>Identify opportunities for process enhancements to streamline accounting procedures.</li>

<li>CPA or equivalent certification. Advanced degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline is a plus.</li>
<li>7-10+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting or controller management positions. Significant track record of progressively responsible experience in budgeting and forecasting.</li>
<li>Deep working knowledge of NFP accounting, TRNA restricted grant budget management and reporting, and audit. Advanced knowledge of GAAP and accounting concepts.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Federal Cost Principles (2 CFR 200) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR); experience with DOD, USAID, DOE, NIH, DoC, EDA contracts strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Experience working in a non-profit organization that receives and manages US federal government grants.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience with independent audits, Single Audits, or other program audits.</li>
<li>Familiarity with cost allocation methodologies.</li>
<li>Experience creating and managing complex, dynamic, multi-program budgets, staff time allocations, and cash-flow projections with clear audit trails.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ability and patience to read and comprehend complex contracts and regulations and design and support smart workflows and controls beyond standard organizational processes.</li>
<li>Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly become a team &ldquo;expert&rdquo; on SaaS tools (Asana, Google apps, Microsoft Office, Airtable, Hubspot, etc.)</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate finance and accounting information to non-finance colleagues and board members.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience with HR compliance, payroll, filings, minimum wage rules, and FLMA, is a plus.</li>
<li>Experience with ESG, mission related investments, impact investments, venture capital, accelerators, or other related activities is a plus.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience developing board materials, finance committee policies/procedures, and internal control documents is a plus.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experienced bookkeeper (QuickBooks).</li>
<li>Expert level in Excel.</li>
<li>Ability to be nimble in a constantly changing environment; ability to navigate ambiguity and find solutions for concurrent conflicting challenges.</li>

<h3>About the Role</h3>
The Partnerships Manager will work with the Director of Partnerships and the Partnerships Associate as well as other members of The Clean Fight team to help design and execute our partnerships model across programs. Each practice area focuses on a different part of the clean energy economy - accordingly, a different group of partners needs to be identified and convened for each program to maximize the ability of our cohort companies to secure commercial, funding, and other opportunities.&nbsp;
The Partnerships Manager will develop and manage a network of customer, capital, and policy partners. The person in this role will lead outreach and manage day-to-day relationships with partners.
The Partnerships Manager reports to the Director of Partnerships and may have direct reports down the road but will not have any initially. The world is building the equivalent of a NYC every month for the next 35 years, and buildings are a massive untapped resource from an energy, economic, and climate lens. Nearly vacant buildings saved only 10% energy and costs during COVID! On top of this, 31 cities in the US now have energy and carbon reporting obligations, with 15 requiring mandatory disclosures for energy consumption and efficiency. BlueUrbn&rsquo;s mission is to be an energy company of the future with a focus on the built environment. As such, scaling energy efficiency and clean energy cannot be scaled with traditional one-off methods, but rather require an extensive application of machine learning, generative AI, computer vision, and cloud energy modeling. You&rsquo;ll be tasked with reforming our internal capabilities and developing products from MVP to the first customer-focused tools.
You&rsquo;ll define our technical strategy and roadmap, and be in charge of growing our technology team. Tasks may include providing support to technical staff and project managers on permitting, site and impact assessment, restoration, land use management plans, public involvement, and environmental regulatory compliance assignments. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.Your Impact<ul><li>Under general supervision, assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling observational, spatial, operations, and environmental data from multiple matrices for projects, research, and surveys.</li><li>Under direct supervision, assist with preparing environmental survey reports, data entry, impact assessment, and permitting activities for assigned tasks (e.g. Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act permitting, CEQA, NEPA, etc.).</li><li>Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, demographics, patterns and trends, and statistical analysis of environmental data.</li><li>Assist with performing basic professional environmental planning work relating to ecological systems, habitats, air, and water resources, assisting with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues.</li><li>Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, field/work site notes, and software.</li><li>Utilize the latest technologies and techniques in performing studies and analysis of habitats, sites, and potential impacts to the health of the environment and the population.</li><li>Complete training on assigned tasks.</li><li>Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.</li><li>Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.</li></ul>Who You AreRequired Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience.)</li><li>Analytical skills, and familiarity with research techniques, local/regional ecology and habitats, and applicable Regional/State/Federal regulatory framework.</li><li>Familiar with relevant environmental laws, permitting requirements, notification and compliance practices, and applicable Regional/State/Federal regulatory framework.</li><li>Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.</li><li>Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.</li><li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.</li><li>Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.</li><li>Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.</li><li>Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.</li><li>Familiarity with discipline-specific software (i.e., ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up).</li><li>Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Prior internship related to the environmental planning.</li><li>A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.</li></ul>WSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
