Retention Marketing Manager

ABOUT THE COALITIONThe Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns building industry stakeholders with energy providers, environmental organizations and local governments to help electrify homes and workspaces with clean energy. Through convening, policy analysis and consumer awareness building, the Coalition is pursuing fast, fair action to accelerate the development of zero-emission homes and buildings that will help states across the nation cut one of its largest sources of climate pollution, while creating safe, healthy and affordable communities. POSITION SUMMARY BDC is bringing together policymakers, market actors, organized labor, environmental justice groups, advocates and other stakeholders across priority states and regions to co-create and advance a common approach to phasing out gas appliances. Together, the states we are targeting represent 60% of the U.S. gas demand in buildings.In this newly created position, the Illinois State Manager will bring deep energy and climate knowledge, political savvy, and coalition-building and campaigning experience to serve this place-based role in the respective region. The Illinois State Manager will report to the Director of State Mobilization and support BDC’s Groundswell campaign focused on accelerating nationwide momentum towards making building decarbonization and the clean energy transition inevitable. This position is designed for a highly motivated self-starter with prior local- and state-level building decarbonization policy and market development experience. The Illinois State Manager brings a knowledge and familiarity of the statewide players, the challenges and the opportunities in the state; and, will serve as the on-the-ground presence gaining expertise in the state’s existing strengths, gaps and greatest value add. There is flexibility in this position to be expanded into a Senior Manager role with scope that covers Illinois as well as overseeing additional scope for the entire midwest region. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSStrategy Development &amp; Reporting to the VP of Product, you will serve as the “General Manager” for this portfolio, working closely with leaders across the organization to deliver world class products and, ultimately, successful commercial outcomes.</div><div> </div><div>We're open to hiring this role in the US or the UK.</div> <h3>What you’ll be doing</h3><ul><li>Serve as the senior-most Product Manager for our sustainability and energy efficiency portfolio.</li><li>Shape the product vision and develop the product roadmap; clearly communicate what we are building and why we are building it across the business.</li><li>Own the KPIs for your product - including revenue targets.</li><li>Work closely with design, engineering, data science, marketing, sales, deployment, and finance to bring solutions to market on time, on budget, and with high quality.</li><li>Drive the product discovery process, working closely with clients, to determine what goes into the backlog (and then prioritise decisively).</li><li>Work closely with Sales and directly with clients to identify opportunities for product enhancements and new features.</li><li>Working with Data Science to develop value-add applications of AI and ML.</li><li>Evangelise the product both internally and externally.</li></ul><h3>What you will need</h3><ul><li>Proven Product Management experience at a Senior or Lead level.</li><li>Entrepreneurial approach to product creation/development.</li><li>Track record of success at leading cross functional teams (especially design + engineering).</li><li>Be collaborative, curious, and have an ownership mindset.</li></ul><h3>What will make you stand out</h3><ul><li>Experience working in the Proptech or Energy space is highly desirable.</li><li>Experience working in a “Product General Manager” model and/or owning commercial KPIs for your product.</li><li>Experience working with hardware solutions (IoT sensors ideally).</li><li>Worked in a tech startup environment (and enjoyed it!).</li></ul><h3>Why we think you’ll love it here</h3><ul><li>Huge responsibility and fascinating challenges – you’ll be joining us early on in our journey, with plenty of autonomy and room to develop your role.</li><li>Fully remote company: we have offices in London and Washington DC available for employees, but most of us work fully remotely.
