<p>This Sustainability Associate position is supported through an innovative partnership between Puget Sound Energy and Strategic Energy Innovations. Aimed at addressing the myriad of energy and environmental sustainability initiatives, this Fellowship model presents a distinct opportunity to shape energy efficiencies and sustainability practices across sectors and institutional roles.</p>
<p>At the core of this program is developing the next generation of thinkers and doers to help address sustainability in higher education settings. Roles in educational sustainability require a distinct combination of aptitudes including project management, data analytics, and community development. In addition to the Climate Corps training and professional certificate, this position offers professional development opportunities designed to help provide the range of skills necessary to execute sustainable programs or practices.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The candidate will work on pressing climate and sustainability problems and be relied upon to work toward replicable solutions. A customized mix of on-the-job training, fieldwork, and class time will help the Fellow hone marketable skills and draw important professional connections while making a marked difference in the campus community.</p>
<h2>Role and Responsibilities</h2>
<p>Projects may include, but are not limited to:</p>
<h3>Project Management:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Energy and utility field audits in support of operational excellence.</li>
<li>Create a plug load inventory and identify opportunities for improvement.</li>
<li>Support on lighting retrofit and solar projects.</li>
<li>Assist with reporting on pay-for-performance and other utility programs.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Update and run analysis on Energy Star Portfolio Manager and other utility and sustainability tools.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Support Bellevue College&rsquo;s participation in PSE Commercial Strategic Energy Management (CSEM) program and Enel Demand Response program</li>
<li>Support planning and installation of 2 new solar PV arrays, and an on-site Solar plus Storage system</li>
<li>Support Clean Building Performance Standard Compliance</li>

<h3>Policy, Research, and Data Analysis:</h3>

<li>Initiate and engage in greenhouse gas emission inventory processes, climate action planning, strategic planning, and associated program development.</li>
<li>Create a draft decarbonization strategy.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Communicate and advocate for the advancement of decarbonization and climate action.</li>

<h3>Outreach and Education:</h3>

<li>Develop partnerships, submit applications for awards, and explore funding sources for related project opportunities.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Develop, facilitate, and conduct campus as a living laboratory project to fully institutionalize decarbonization efforts.</li>
<li>Contribute to and deliver content for social media, ads, reports, presentations, and other communications material to promote sustainability initiatives.</li>
<li>Publish reports and materials pertinent to the college&rsquo;s sustainability efforts.</li>

<h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in sustainability, engineering, design, or energy systems.</li>
<li>Related experience in fields related to climate action and strategic planning, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, and data analysis.</li>
<li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license with reliable transportation to be available on-site.</li>
<li>Ability to work remotely if required.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and carry out assignments, make independent judgments and/or decisions, and discern when action at a higher level is required.</li>
<li>Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects and maintain an organized and well-communicated workflow.</li>

<p>PNCECE is a statewide and regional resource that represents the interests of the energy industry and labor partners within the Washington State Community and Technical College system. <h2>Position Description</h2>
<p>The Climate/Energy Education Fellow will support PNCECE hosted at Centralia College and collaborate with wide-ranging project partners in Lewis and south Thurston counties to support sustainability workforce development pathways that, 1) educate, promote, and facilitate energy initiatives in K-12 programs, 2) facilitate higher education faculty engagement with topics such as building efficiency standards policy, environmental science, clean energy, HVAC and more, through communities of practice, and 3) provide internship opportunities to residents, and high school and college students 18 years of age and older. This innovative programming supported by SEI and the Climate/Energy Education Fellow is designed to create a skilled workforce that will be employable through high-wage clean energy and energy efficiency job opportunities in the region and state.</p>
<p>The Fellow will be supported by SEI, a regional supervisor, and the director of the Pacific NW Center of Excellence for Clean Energy.</p>
<h2>Responsibilities</h2>
<ul>
<li>Assist the Center of Excellence and local stakeholders in organizing the summer FWEE/STEM program (week of June 24).</li>
<li>Promote training opportunities and resources for high school teachers and recruit participation in the program (Lewis and South Thurston counties).</li>
<li>Assist with recruiting college faculty into the Energy Community of Practice and support program logistics (administrative tasks)</li>
<li>Promote the renewable energy classes in Centralia HS and WF West (on campuses)</li>
<li>Promote careers in energy at outreach events (such as the Lewis County Fair with LC PUD)</li>
<li>In coordination with SEI staff and local high schools; create, launch, and facilitate an energy conservation competition plan between two schools.</li>
<li>Identify partners and site supervisors, such as at Centralia College and Centralia College East, to host two internship opportunities (SEI is the liaison for those interns)</li>
<li>Additional projects assigned through the Center of Excellence for Clean Energy.&nbsp;</li>
