<h1>The Role</h1>We're building our Finance team and currently seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join us as our first Finance hire! In this crucial role, you will collaborate directly with our senior leadership, taking a lead role in owning financial accounting and operations, analysis, and reporting. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring accurate financial records and providing insights that contribute to the financial stability and growth of our company.  As our first accounting hire, you will have the unique opportunity to develop and execute the accounting function’s vision, strategy, and priorities as our Company continues to scale.  This role will report directly to the CEO initially and – later in the year – a Head of Finance.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Develop, oversee and run financial accounting processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and records</li><li>Manage company’s relationship with external accounting and bookkeeping firm(s)</li><li>Oversee the monthly close (e.g., the revenue recognition processes and journal entries in close coordination with the Revenue Org leadership) and reconciliation process, including reporting and financial analysis to share with leadership</li><li>Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including customer billing and receivables, accounts payable, payroll, employee reimbursements, sales tax management, state/local filings, and contract review</li><li>Develop and drive compliance with our banking and treasury management strategy</li><li>Create standard operating procedures and strengthen controls around critical accounting and financial operations</li><li>Conduct in-depth financial analysis to generate actionable management reports that provide a comprehensive view of the company's financial performance, with a particular understanding of 3-statement financial analysis and budget-versus-actuals (BVA)</li><li>Assist with budgeting activities, including building financial models and forecasting</li><li>Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies</li><li>Identify areas to drive operational automation, improvements and efficiency, from both a process and systems/tools standpoint</li><li>Collaborate with external accounting firms on annual R&amp;D study, federal and state tax returns preparation as well as manage the annual financial audit process</li><li>Own various other ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects in collaboration with the CEO, Revenue Ops, Business Ops, and People Ops, as needed</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>5-7+ years of relevant experience at a top public accounting firm and/or as an in-house accountant </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent training</li><li>Proficiency in utilizing advanced financial systems and tools, as well as experience with implementing new systems</li><li>Experience directly navigating third-party financial audits and achieving successful outcomes</li><li>Experience working with technology SaaS businesses generating $10M+ in revenue</li><li>Ability to excel in dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li><li>High attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to be hands on and work directly on all aspects of the job</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>CPA license with extensive knowledge of US GAAP, with an in-depth knowledge of revenue recognition and software capitalization standards</li><li>Familiarity with QuickBooks</li><li>Experience with profitable, growth-stage startups (between 50 and 250 employees) and comfortable developing and scaling processes and controls in such environments </li><li>Technical accounting experience in the areas of investments, employee equity plans, and capitalization for VC-backed technology start-ups </li><li>CPG and retail tech experience</li><li>Has led a finance transformation and implementation of an ERP system </li><li>Budgeting and financial forecasting experience</li></ul><h1>About Spoiler Alert</h1>Spoiler Alert is a Boston-based software company helping perishable CPG brands manage excess and slow-moving inventory. You will support these accounts through the onboarding and roll out process and continue to look for ways to strengthen and grow the relationship. Reporting to the Country Director, you will collaborate with other Key Accounts team members, and colleagues across marketing, independent sales and partner growth.The role will include:<ul><li>Pitching: create and deliver high quality, professional presentations to potential partners, and confidently speak about the business and food waste proposition</li><li>Proactive business development and relationship building: Independently and proactively outreach to gain meetings and build rapport with stakeholders and decision-makers</li><li>Research: Independently search for new opportunities, learn about the businesses in depth, map the stakeholders and understand their decision-making process</li><li>Account Management of key chains: autonomy in managing your own portfolio of chains and ensuring the relationship is strong and business KPIs are met</li><li>Account Growth: developing strategies to grow your accounts and working with the retailer to increase store coverage and overall supply</li><li>Planning and forecasting: building reports to track performance and identify trends, create financial projections and forecasts for internal planning and commercial proposals</li><li>Developing specific Account strategies to progress our relationship with Key Account partners and engage in Quarterly Business Reviews to ensure we stay on track.</li><li>Supporting roll outs: working with the team and the retailer to plan, schedule and execute store rollouts at scale</li></ul>REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>Solid commercial and network experience working in the supermarket/grocery sector or in food supply chain manufacturers. Business Development Manager (Grocery)

You will  manage the practical needs of product development with building a foundational knowledge base covering all facets of user needs, motivations, and desired experiences along the product experience.
