In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in spreading awareness about banks' environmental impacts, green personal finance, and encouraging bank customers to demand more sustainable policies from their financial institutions. We have a need for Frontend Engineers on 2 different teams works on products that ultimately support our core mission. You will play a crucial role in the development of either the public facing <a href="http://Bank.Green">Bank.Green</a> website or our internal Green Policy Evaluator (GPE).
GPE a cutting-edge project aimed at analyzing bank policies with the assistance of LLM technology, along with human oversight and review. This will allow us to rapidly expand our coverage of environmentally evaluated banks ultimate shown on our public website.
The <a href="http://Bank.Green">Bank.Green</a> website allows users to see how their current bank, and potential new alternative banks, rank on environmental issues - primarily fossil fuel and related sectors support. It also provides suggestions on how to talk to your current or potential future bank about your environmental concerns. It also hosts miscellaneous other public facing aspects of our organization supporting the primary mission of encouraging people to have their own money stop supporting fossil fuel related banks.

This role is unpaid and volunteer-based. We are seeking a commitment of 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for somebody to come on long-term, for at least a 6 month commitment.

Expectations
You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 2 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.

About Merch.eco:
Merch.eco is a non-profit organization with the objective to help bulk purchasers of personalized clothing find ethical and sustainable suppliers.
The Problem:
Those purchasing merchandise in bulk for clubs and sports teams have limited capacity and access to information when finding suppliers who deeliver on ethics and sustainability, as well as cost, quality and accessibility.
When the ethical choice is unclear, customers favour cheaper options. This means that customers often buy items that don&rsquo;t match their ethical standards, and suppliers feel pressured to make ethical shortcuts to keep up with the demand of cheap clothing. Additionally, suppliers struggle to know which ethical choices to prioritise, due to epensive and non-transparent sustainability advising.
Our Solution:
We are providing merch-purchasers with accessible information on ethical suppliers, allowing them to make informed decisions to change suppliers.
The financial impacts of these switches on the supplier are tracked by our accreditation system and displayed alongside which changed factors (e.g. living wages, material choices) will bring them up to the standards of their most ethical competitors. Suppliers are made aware of every consumer and dollar of revenue lost because of their unethical practices, and of every dollar their competitors gain when making and ethical choice.
A new competition is created where the most ethical company wins.
This ethical pressure will build as we continue to grow, and ripple through the supply chains of one of the world&rsquo;s most damaging industries which shapes the lives of 250 million labourers and contributes 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

What exactly are you going to do?&nbsp;
You will be joining our Client Relationship Team to engage with merchandise suppliers as we help them adopt sustainable and ethical business practices through the merch.eco algorithm and accreditation system.
Your activities will be:

With a minimum commitment requirement of two months, working a minimum of 32 hours per week, participants are given the short term and rigorous opportunity to live on site, join our team, learn about AWCC operations, and gain valuable career skills. These dedicated volunteers are interested in learning about our organization, mission, and wildlife and desire to share their knowledge with others. Fellowship candidates may secure funding through their university, a grant, scholarship, or similar and work as sponsored volunteers. While preference is given to applicants being sponsored for a fellowship, we will accept volunteer applications without sponsorship. Applicants should indicate their sponsorship status in the Fellowship application form and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. While applicants can indicate departmental preference in their application, participants will have duties in both our Education and Animal Care departments, with tasks such as presenting daily talks and tours, assisting with school programs, preparing animal diets, and cleaning habitats.
