Hello! My name is Hanah Hood.  I've been in the professional workforce in various roles since 2012.  I'm presently in construction and head up our estimating efforts as a Preconstruction Manager.  I've worked in schools the other half of my career as a teacher, director of a preschool program and also as an operations manager.   I've always cared deeply for the success of the Earth and all the life on it.  Within the last two years, I've decided to dive more deeply into the climate world.  I'm presently taking climate resilience courses through Colorado State and will start a graduate program in the Fall of 2021 in hopes to gain my graduate certificate in Carbon Management.  I hope to one day break into the climate sector and work directly for a company that is making positive impacts. I am passionate about climate crisis solutions and work to gain more knowledge in this field daily.

Patrick
Environmental Technology Researcher Ottawa, ON, Canada
Experienced bilingual (French/English) energy and sustainability expert looking to leverage my existing skillset in the clean economy.  Possessing a technical and specialist background in renewable energy tech, as well geography, environmental studies, policy, and engineering, I am looking to be able to contribute to a project focus role in management and consultancy / advisory, or policy role. I have widespread experience within the energy, sustainability, climate change and environmental resource sectors. CORE COMPETENCIES  * Extensive experience developing, implementing, and leading strategic initiatives. * Proven track record in project management, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills along with a demonstrated ability to lead projects and deliver results. * Experience leading cross-functional and diverse team operating in different countries with a wide variety of education and professional experience. * I can see and interpret the world through systems, strategy, services, experiences, and cultures. * I can navigate ambiguity and have a passion for solving complex and challenging issues. * Consulting and advisory briefing experience to senior government officials, domestic and foreign. * Deep understanding of climate and energy development policy challenges both in domestic and international settings. I would like to highlight my extensive and direct experience as an energy and sustainability consultant, as well as project manager and developer for energy projects. As you will be able to tell, I have gained this experience in a variety of very different roles spanning environmental, climate, clean energy, and sustainability sectors. I have credible and effective experience within the clean economy as well as engaging with senior government officials on regarding economic and energy transitions. For the past year I have worked as a project developer and manager developing multimillion dollar commercial scale solar energy projects in emerging markets, largely in Global South countries. As such I am familiar with the challenges in developing energy infrastructure solutions in challenging regulatory and policy markets. Furthermore, I have also been working as an environmental researcher with Sustainable Development Technologies Canada. In both roles I have extensive experience analyzing policy, trade agreements and trade barriers at multiple levels of government, navigating federal, provincial, and municipal project requirements, coordinating technical and due diligence reviews, as well as implementing projects with very complex operational scopes. I regularly consult and engage with project clients and stakeholders, including external senior government officials, to drive strategic sustainable project recommendations to align outcomes that best suit both organizational capabilities, as well as stakeholder values and interests.  My contributions have helped various projects I’ve overseen be strategically positioned as important and critical partner in bridging project development efforts and interests with those of our target market, whether those be in Canada or throughout the world. In addition to this, I have experience as a senior energy and sustainability project consultant with WSP Canada, a leading Canadian engineering firm.  In this technical role I had the pleasure of being the primary developer and curator of both the Public Service and Procurement Canada’s Real Property Portfolio Strategic Environmental and Sustainability Framework, as well as Strategic Environmental and Sustainability Framework and Implementation Plan for Global Affairs Canada’s International Platform. Both federal government frameworks established portfolio wide strategies and implementation plans for reducing emissions, implementing renewable energy sources, fuel switching, establishing portfolio environmental standards and various other sustainability performance standards. My work engaging with these federal government clients has had the direct effect of generating continued winning contract and proposals for the organization while fostering strong government ties and relationships. During my time at WSP, I worked with dedication to manage difficult multidimensional project scopes and succeeded in delivering on several difficult client expectation and timelines while maintaining excellent client relationships. In addition to my environmental and sustainability duties, I developed strategic communication plans for communicating technical processes and program scope for a variety of government and public service stakeholders within a wide range of government departments.

As an Information Technology Specialist, I have developed strong database management and project development skills. For example, I have performed administrative duties on multiple systems that require precise attention in order to maintain the integrity of information and organization. As a firefighter/ Damage Controlman for the United States Navy, I have occupied multiple leadership roles. I have been in charge of multiple projects that require strict observation in order to abide by policy and procedure. I am confident in my ability to work as a team member while performing the duties of, but not limited to, writing, managing, data collection, constructing reports, and upholding the reputation of the Conservancy. My degree and expertise is risk analysis. Although my focus was computer and information based, risk assessment and management applies to nearly every aspect of our lives. I feel I am currently not using my knowledge to the best of my ability. I want to be a part of something that makes a difference. I would love to seek a job where I am providing a more direct or first hand impact on something I hold very dear; the sustainment of nature and everything it encompasses. Please refer to my resume for any additional. I look forward to hearing from you.

This part of the job hunt is always the most difficult, what is the best way to describe my work experience and passion for environmental management. I enjoy learning and I want to solve problems. Those problems could rang from developing a waste and recycling plan for a community, working to help farmers and ranchers move to regenerative agricultural practices, or analyzing policies to ensure that organizations are investing their time and money in the best solution. I have previous work experience with cross-functional roles as well as coursework that was focused on environmental law and policy. My experience with marketing and sales operations has allowed me to successfully work with key stakeholders to identify and solve problems and give executive level presentations. I have reviewed and analyzed US and international environmental policies through my coursework at DU, as well as researched the economic impact of environmental policies. I would love the opportunity to help solve whatever problem you are working on!

Someone that feels passionately about combating climate change and striving to make real changes that create impact on the world.  Along with zeal for sustainability, I believe that my work experience as an architect and skillset as a Product Manager and Project Coordinator further advocated my desire to be in the business industry. My experience with product development and enhancement strengthened my judgement and understanding of a product’s potential and how to increase its growth and prospects. Additionally, as Project Coordinator, I honed my organization and communication skills everyday, making me versatile and integral to be a part of any team. Architects are known to just be designers, however the most important skill to have as an architect is problem-solving, which I find is also one of the most exciting parts of any job. Working on projects that required LEED certification and solving problems to create a building design that was efficient and sustainable was what appealed to me the most in the field. Therefore, I decided I wanted to be a part of sustainability practices in more wide range of fields and be a part of companies that are making active changes for the betterment of our planet.

I'm just about to submit my PhD thesis at the University of Oxford on improving the efficiency of Quantum dot solar cells, a low-cost solar technology using nanomaterials. Beyond my studies I'm looking to make a dent in the world's decarbonization targets. I'm particularly interested in sustainable infrastructure development, decarbonization of the built environment, and the scale-up of emerging climate technologies, as well as how to use all of these to revitalize struggling communities. Please reach out if you want to talk about any and all climate tech, how climate tech can help your area, jazz music, and soccer. I'd love to hear from you.
