Chief Product Officer, Chief Innovation Officer Alameda, California, US
I'm an innovator and a serial entrepreneur. I've started and sold companies, raised venture capital, worked as an intrapreneur/provocateur twice and launched two successful Kickstarter campaigns, so I understand the entrepreneurial journey, the culture and the levers that help companies grow. I'm a maker of things, including products that range from enterprise systems to sewn goods, two airplanes that I flew around the country and a toy that is nationally distributed, so I understand both the determination required and the complexity of bringing something new to market. Over the last 3 years, I've worked as a Fuse Fellow in the public sector, helping the Alameda County Library develop a process of innovation for the first time. Through this experience, I learned to help an organization build innovation into every aspect of their work, often for the first time -- from redesigning departments to developing new programs. My fellowship is over midsummer 2020 and I am ready to take my expertise to the climate crisis. I'm convinced that climate change is the single biggest threat facing humanity and the biggest entrepreneurial opportunity of all time. Here's where I'd like to land next: - Working with an accelerator, a venture studio, or a foundation to launch companies in the climate space. One hypothesis that I want to test is whether embedding design thinking into the culture of young companies can lead to faster problem-solving and higher returns. - Working with a larger organization on their climate change initiatives, leading innovation throughout or starting and running smaller initiatives inside the organization. If you know where I can find such roles or people who could help, please get in touch.
