Sarah Reese Scott
Sarah Reese Scott Phoenix, AZ, USA
My name is Sarah Scott, I originally hail from Michigan and I was raised in Sonoran desert just outside Phoenix, AZ., I am a daughter, sister, friend, wife, dog mom, climate activist, music lover and scotch enthusiast. I am currently working fulltime at Amy's Kitchen LLC and studying online at the Oxford Sa ĆÆ d Business school for a certificate in Corporate Sustainability Leadership.  Professionally, I have spent the last 8 (almost 9 years) working for Amy's Kitchen- a leader in the organic sector- in various roles where I have acquired invaluable experience and skill as an auditor, food scientist; learning about raw material analysis, supply chain, social responsibility, and sustainability. At present, I am supporting a Regenerative Agriculture project conducting internal research on best practices, measurement systems, and certifications focused on building soil health and sequestering carbon through agriculture. The goal is that the results of our research will help inform our future sourcing programs, investments, climate strategy, partnerships, and advocacy.  Outside of Amy's, I am a volunteer and leader for a local chapter of Climate Reality Project- Greater Phoenix and Citizens Climate Lobby East Valley Chapter. Both organizations are non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots, and committed to combating climate change through education and action. Through my work with them, I have organized demonstrations, vigils, presented the latest in climate science to my community, I have lobbied elected officials for change, and I continue to do everything I can to heal and help build a more sustainable, thriving planet.  I am looking for new opportunities in the spheres of climate change policy and/or sustainability.

Riley Hess
Advocacy Organizer/Campaign Organizer/Digital Organizer Phoenix, AZ, 85040, US
My goal as a community advocate is to bring together like-minded individuals from different backgrounds to create positive hegemonic change. Without conversations with people who have more power, whether that be monetary, political, or social, the status quo stays the same and no progress is made. As stated previously, it is my goal to engage with and organize my communities to create lasting systemic change. Although I may not have always been a traditional organizer, I have always been an advocate while still organizing in a nontraditional sense. Thinking back to my time in college, I worked as a News Editor and Editor-in-Chief for my school’s newspaper where I made the decision to localize national headlines so that our readers would relate more to the topics resulting in higher readership. This allowed us to cover progressive topics, for middle America Illinois, that the administration would sweat at the sight of like BLM, the refugee crises, and harmful organizations on campus. Not only writing about controversial topics, but also attending rallies or sit-ins for progressive causes was another function of my group. Leading my 11-person team created a sense of unity and drive among the staff. We would have weekly individual check-ins and biweekly full team check-ins to ensure everyone was up to speed and meeting goals. I also lead the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as its president where I organized several events for volunteer coordination like food drives, elementary school readings, and a fun run to help pay for a student’s medical bills. This leads me to my most recent win as an organizer and team lead for Community Outreach Group in Arizona. During my first two weeks, I had already recruited 5-7 volunteers and they were making calls by week two. By the end of the cycle, I had over 15 volunteers that I could rely on and make scheduled calls each day. Eventually, I was given a team of hired organizers that I would lead through the end of the 2020 election. By coaching them on how to be persuasive, and practicing with them to be more comfortable on the phone giving ā€œhard asksā€ to strangers, we managed to destroy our metrics and eventually win the federal congressional campaign and flip AZ blue. We also put together volunteer phonebank events on a regular basis that allowed the volunteers to hang out with us while still making calls or sending text messages. I like to think these events embodied the term ā€œrelational organizing.ā€ Although I may not have a ton of traditional experience as an organizer, I still have experience challenging the status quo while bringing like-minded people together for a specific cause and orchestrating their combined actions. I thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Cheers, Riley Hess

Alexia
Biologist Phoenix, Maryland, 21131, US
I am applying to your job posting for the Biologist position. I am drawn to this position because of my passion for Biology, Conservation, and the opportunity to use my developed skill sets in a more specialized career. Throughout my life I have always been passionate about natural resources, the environment, and local communities. My B.S. in Wildlife Management at Lake Superior State University helped develop my potential in the wildlife management field. The summer of 2017 I was an Invasive Species Field Tech with Three Shores Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) through the Chippewa Mackinac and Luce County Conservation District (CLMCD). Three Shores CISMA is an organization that is made up of over 40 partners which includes private, state, and federal agencies. I learned that I became more interested in wildlife, habitat, natural resource management, conservation, and community services. Specializing in protecting critical habitats from invasive species by using chemical, cultural, manual, and mechanical methods. This required maintaining a commercial pesticide license. The following years (2018, 2019) I was an Invasive Species Crew Lead and helped achieve the goals of the CISMA, the CLMCD, and their partners, professionally and reliably. Working with CISMA’s partners led to experiences working in areas such as wetlands and forests, to educate local communities. These experiences helped build a solid foundation for skills in conservation, communication, and growth to become a Biologist. As you can see on my resume, I have extensive experience and skills that are related to this position, as well as team and performance acknowledgements. LSSU, CISMA, and the Army set a strong independent, professional foundation, and my expertise in knowledge of natural resource management combined with my leadership, teamwork, project management, data collection and analyzing skills, leading teams into our nation’s communities, teaching peers, and helping the community reach conservation and natural resources management goals. LSSU has taught me skills and education in Botany, Forestry, Biostatistics, Wildlife Management, Natural Resource Management, Ornithology, and Ecology. Three Shores CISMA granted me a crew leader position for multiple years which reinforced my ability, my potential of leadership, and project management. I strongly believe my talents would be valuable to your organization, its partners, the community, and their inquiries in relation to our nation's environment, wildlife, and public. I am an excellent candidate for your position as a Biologist and I aim to help meet the goals of your organization and excel in the Natural Resources, the Environment, and Conservation field. I am willing to meet any and all training and requirements expected for this position. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time and consideration.
